Okay so this is on my new Taco, but since I am still in Afghan land for another few weeks I cannot be home to check everything out. I had my wife take some pics of the complete truck and I saw this button. Now I am fairly certain that they didn't come with bluetooth, but I wanted to make sure...by the way I am not asking about the AUX..

Thanks in advance, and sorry for the NEWB questions :p

That is toyotas aftermarket bluetooth button. I installed it on my first Tacoma, worked really well.

Mine was made by Blu Logic. You can probably get instruction for it online.

I was pretty sure it was bluetooth, but that would have to have been installed by the previous owner right?? They did not come with it from the factory right? Also I am wondering how to find out if it is still installed, without tearing apart the whole lower console and chasing wires...

Check how to setup pairing mode with that button (maybe holding down the phone button:notsure: ) and you can check to see if your phone sees the system.

Turn the key on and push and hold middle button. She should here a beep from lf speaker. Then just turn the key off.

I would imagine if it is Toyota's aftermarket piece that it is hooked up directly to the stereo?? Or is there an external speaker that runs up under the dash?

If it is the blu logic, it is interfaced with the head unit. As I recall, mine only played the incoming over the speaker in the drivers door, but it worked really well.

The other thing to look for is the mic. If it is still installed there is a microphone somewhere. Its a little black one. I mounted mine on the window behind the mirror. Lots of people mount the on the steering column.

Maybe you ought to ask the locals. The Afghans probably have more advanced wireless services than we do...
