Tuna, it does not work quite that easily. You need to make sure the plug for the outside sensor is there (the plug is usually located underneath the left (drivers) side headlight.
The sensor mounts on the center support below the hood latch.

should be an easy swap with the plain jane over head console. just make sure you have the ambient temp sensor up front, and pretty much you're set.

if you have the plug, all you need is the ambient temp sensor. cost less then 20$ at the stealership.

here's how the sensor looks like.

I'm not the one that's selling the part. I'm just putting my imput on how/what parts you need for that over head console to work. that pic I posted has 2 parts to it. the plug which you already have and the tip which is the ambient temp sensor itself. with out the sensor, the temp/compass gauge on the overhead console won't have a read out.

I apologize to the OP, should've let him answer potential buyers questions.

it'll fit, but it wouldn't work for 09-above. something about Toyota changing the wiring, and using the AC amplifier to get the temperature.

So I just picked up one of these, out of what I thought was an 06 for my 05 dc but it is not working. Maybe it needs the Overhead Compass/Temp Fix, I'll have to check later today. My question is if i have an 09 or newer assembly will my factory harness even snap into it? Or are the plugs completely different?
