Got a set of rod holders and was trying to figure out how to mount it. I was thinking about a tool box but don't really have use for a tool box. So how would yall mount this?

Use the rail behind the cab? Just make some mounts for it.

Just drill a hole in the square bracket piece and take the cleat of and bolt the rod holder on or put the cleat back on over the rod holder bracket. Just and idea to work with.
Edit: I see you've already got one but if you decide for whatever reason you don't want to go that route I use a set up exactly like this.

Salt water fishing is a whole different ball game. Especially surf fishing.

I run 4 rods when I surf fish. Usually have different rigs/baits on each rod depending on what I'm trying to catch.

when I had an offshore Mako boat...

we usually trolled with 2 each off the port & starboard gunnels, one flat in the rod holder, and one rigged on an outrigger on each side...and sometimes a center "fly rigger" off the T-top.

plus, when runnin' & gunnin' offshore...you want to have extra rods rigged up for different fish you are after, and different trolling speeds.

there were times we boarded my boat with 10-15 rods, most rigged and drag tested and ready to go.

Well said when bottom fishing with 6 guys we all have a rod in our hands usually 2 or 3 soaking with big baits for grouper and 2 more out on a flat line for kings and usually have 2-3 rods rigged for Mahi swimming up to the boat and a few rigged to catch bait

It depends on what I'm doing. If I'm going fishing in a stream on my property I'll just take one rod and my light tackle box. If I'm going to shore fish in the salt water I'm going to take at least 5 rods and that's just for myself. If we're going off shore, usually 4-5 people, we're taking minimum 20 rods and usually have 4 set up and cast at once. If I'm doing an inshore salt water fishing I'll have 3-4 rods all set up for different area's and conditions. I've figured what works where when I'm fishing and rather than spend 10 minutes re-riggging a line because a tide change or something unexpected came I can just grab a rod and roll with it. I live 1.5 hours from the nearest salt water so fishing is a hobby I enjoy frequently.

I built this not long after i bought my truck in '10. I do some beach surf fishing and wanted a way i can hide the holder under my tonnou cover but not have to take of my cover when i go to the beach. Built with metal stock i bought at home depot and a rod holder i bought online from thesurfcaster.com. It is mounted to the 2 bed bolts that are right behind the cab and can easily be removed if needed.
