Does anyone know if Toyota makes an OEM remote start kit for the 2012 Tacoma? Is it plug and play?
    Thanks,

Nope... There is no factory remote start available I tried..... I have purchased a compustar system with a blade bypass module that will work fine with our trucks.

The shitty part is I am waiting because my installer does not yet have the 2012 wiring schematic and he doesn't want to play around and I don't want him guessing either... He has contacted the company and expects to have in a few weeks.

He's full of ****. The diagrams are readily available. My remote start (DEI w/ smart start) was done months ago...

Kevin, what brand of starer is the one in yours?

    I'm seriously considering one myself.

    Viper (DEI) w/ "smart start".
Our v6's warm up so fast I rarely use it but mid winter will be a different story.

Well if you can show me where to get my hands on it... He has all the info for the bypass but the company that provides him with the diagram here in Canada only has one that says 2010 +, he took the panels off ad checked it out and it is not the same.

I don't want him fucking around and guessing and he doesn't want to either. So until his vendor has the diagram I won't let him do it.

I'm thinking about this system for my truck, how are you finding the phone app works? It 's a great idea to be able to start your truck from your phone!

It's been a fantastic unit. I had it installed last year in my Ranger, then moved the entire system into the Tacoma. So I've had it a year and a half now. I have to take an employee shuttle to my truck so a 2 or 3 minute warm up is not line of sight and outside of keyfob range. The iPhone (or any smart phone) interface is awesome for this. It works flawlessly and you get a confirmation. The app is very clean. The transmitter I picked was the AM one, its range is crazy, and its not bulky or bling, it's very subtle and looks OE. The DEI w SS is a great unit.

dealer would be a massive rip off and sacrifice in features... why not just buy a real unit from a 12-volt guy?
