Front Wheel Bearing Change ?

Hey guy's, I have a bad driver side front wheel bearing on my 08 Tacoma. I'm wanting to know if I can use a hub & bearing assembly for a 03 thru 09 4 Runner, is it the same ? I found them on Ebay for $239.00 free ship. The reason I'm thinking of doing it this way is for simplicity. Then I'll have one to rebuild for a spare when the old one is removed.

Nobody knows if the Hub Assemly will work ?

 

I found out from another source it won't work. The hub it's self is different, so I was told. The bearing module is the same as what the Tacoma's use.

 

I changed my driver front wheel bearing yesterday. Overall it wasn't to bad of a job, about 3 hours total. The bearing module I used was a Moog, the bearing in it was a SKF, made in Japan. The seals were National brand. I also went ahead & bought a new Toyota hub then had it pressed into the Moog bearing module, that gave me a complete hub, bearing unit. No running to a shop for press work half way through the job.
Now I have a spare hub.

I've read a lot of guy's don't change the inner seal when doing this & can see why. The steering spindle has to be removed so the inner seal can be changed since it goes in from the back. My seal was trashed so I had no choice. After reassembling & a test drive, wow what a difference !

My Tacoma is an "08 4X4 the parts used are listed below.

How much did all of that cost?

 

getting mine done as we speak, first time for the driver side.. already replaced the passenger side twice.

 

I forgot about the hub bolts & the "O" ring that goes on the bearing module.

I got the bearing module at Advance Auto Parts with a couple other things & had a $50.00 off coupon.
The Hub came from toyotapartszone.com
The seals came from a local auto parts store.
The "O" Ring & hub bolts came from a local Toyota Dealer.

 

I've got 2 spare 4x4 hubs with bearings on them already if anyone is interested. As the OP stated great spares to have! When you need one, just swap it in and get a new bearing installed on the old one!
