    Thanks guys! And I got gas, it's 1/4 inch metal. Settings were on 3/50? I think. And for "T"welds, I was using the "U" technique but I watched a video and the guy said to hold it at the top a second longer than the bottom cause it would run down, I did that and it worked out fairly well for 2 days haha. And for the solid welds, I was using the lower case "e" motion. I slowed down a LOT and turned the feed down so I think that also helped. We don't know what size wire we're using so we're gonna get some new wire haha. What is making it splatter? And newb question, why is the metal changing colors? Something I'm doing wrong? We looked at the chart the machine has to see what it needed to be set on for 3/16 and 1/4 metal and it says it won't do it.....my grandfather said if we get to doing this a lot we'd get a bigger one but it seems to have done 3/16 and 1/4" pretty well? :confused:

    Color is coming from the heat, should be bluish... Do you mean like the beads of metal spatter or when you start welding the gun spatters?

    Ok, just hadn't seen it on other welds, could have just been ground off. It is bluish and it's the beads and some very small sticks of metal spatter.

    Then again I say that, but I blew out my last set of coilovers, ruined my stock skid plate, and I'm pretty well pinstriped. But yeah, I was just checking... I knew I wasn't up for like the trips the guys from NC take to Windrock.

    Damn dude u r a newb! Haha u cant grind off the discolor, its from the metal getting hot. Its not just on the surface. And with ur spatter problem sounds like either a ground problem or ur not matching up ur settings well. Try turning the volts to 4 with the same wire speed, if it still isnt prrfect then turn ur wire speed down just a lil bit

    yeah, i got a few strips. and yeah no windrock till lift and full armer. could go to royal blue wma where me and cory(mountainman) went not this past weekend up the weekend before.

    Hahaha I've never seen it done up close and I've only welded twice. It's grounded well and do you mean volts to 40 and leave wire feed at 3?

    Im sorry I said that all ass backwards. Turn ur wire speed up to 4 with the same voltage and if ur still having a problem with spatter turn ur voltage down slightly and see if that helps. Also when u start feeling pretty good about ur welds try speeding up a lil bit, it should help make it more fluent

    Yeah I know. So turn it to 4! And u should never come close to that 100v unless u want ur welder to melt! Lol and if u would pay attention, I said go slow to learn and when u feel better about ur welds then speed up to improve the fluency of them.

    Hahahaha alright, so what's the reason for turning the wire feed to 4? And I won't ever turn it up to 100! Haha I'll try and kick up the speed a little today.
