I noticed recently that occasionally after locking the doors on 06 Tacoma that after the initial locking 'click' there's several clicks after it. It doesn't happen all the time and happens regardless of wether I use the key fob or the lock button on the door. Anyone else have this problem? Or have an idea of what it is?

It sounds like just the drivers door. Not 100% sure though.

Does the door ajar light come on or flicker ???
If not it's a good chance it's the actuator.
no aftermarket alarm or remote start ??

No door ajar light. Alarm system is stock. No remote start.
If the the actuator goes out I should still be able to get in my truck with the key correct? I don't see how it would affect the key cylinder but just checking.

The lock mech. contains the switch etc for the central door lock system.
there is no switch on the key lock itself.
Try locking the door and closing it with the key in the door lock cyl adding a little pressure to lock it. see if it makes a difference in the switch in the latch mech.

So lock the door stick the key in the lock and shut the door while turning the key a little bit?
Not sure how I'm gonna notice if it works. Only does it occasionally.

Correct. Just trying to change the parameter a little. You can unplug the connector to it if it becomes a major issue but you will lose your central door lock capability. The lock will still work fully manual.
Intermittent issues are frustrating to say the least.
