custom grill project

here is what i am going for incase you haven't seen my other threads...




I'll be starting a thread on this project so you guys can see the progress and do it yourself if you want and learn from my mistakes (which i'm sure there will be plenty of)



so i finally got everything i need to make my customized 1st gen grill...

my scrap grill from JDMCQ... he did an awesome cutting job and left me a lot of grill to work with:



my woodworking "dremel" i got off an estate sale on ebay for $20 (already ripped it open like a 5 yr old on christmas)... came with all sorts of nifty attatchments...

 

i started off by cutting out the middle emblem mount:




and then sanded down and evened out all the edges so it will be easier to attatch other parts:






i plan on filling in the two bars to the left and right of the middle one with bondo and sanding it smooth.

then cutting one of the end bars to fit in the middle bar, epoxy it from behind and filling in with bondo on the front and sanding smooth.

then i will cut all 3 middle bars out as one piece replace the middle three bars of the grill that is currently on my truck with the new middle.

also curious on how it turns out on the lower chrome part. that's all i have left for a total front black out. i can post pics if wanted.

ill put them up tomorrow. the only problem i have is with my clear corners, i thought i bought black trim but its like dark gray. not very noticable though.

 

i just got a set that are silver mist or whatever its called but will be painting it whatever i paint my grill and grill surround when i'm done (flat/satin black)

i take it you have a color match grill surround?

 

no thats the problem my grille surround is black but the trim on the clear corners are dark gray. how can i paint them?

 

i'm probably going to just tape everything off as best i can and rattle can it
