I have been following this site for a long time now but never created an account until now. I have learned alot from reading everyone's posts you all are a wealth of knowledge. I currently have a 97 ex. cab with 221,000 miles, got it in '03 with 60,000 btw, great truck and there really is nothing wrong with it but lately I have been pondering upgrading to a 2nd gen double 4wd for no other reason then how much more convenient it would be for the family, I have a 8 month old and a 5 year old. I have been looking at used trucks on autotrader and wow they want alot of money for them. In some cases the price of new on a 2010-2011 stock model. My question is what are you guys actually paying for your used trucks. I have seen the threads where people are posting what they are paying for new trucks and thought it would be a good idea to have a thread like that just for used trucks. Just post up the buying price and maybe the asking price along with a few details about the truck (mileage, model, ect.) I think many people could benefit from this information.

2006 Silver 4x4 long bed with Leer
    Purchased August 1, 2012

Used 2006 double cab long bed V6 4x4 TRD sport silver with Leer 100R 112,000 miles, factory roof rack, tow package, color matched grill and bumper, Dueler A/T Revo 2 tires.

    $17,988

I traded in a 12 year old Subaru outback which brought my final price down. I have a note for $14.5K.

I've since added factory running boards for the wife and daughter to use, Yakima rack on the Leer roof, Billy 5100's all around, new rubber bed mat, changed many fluids, cleaned TB and MAF and more.

I felt ok with the price. Had to do all the paperwork and trade-in negotiating while on vacation in July over email, phone and texting. Drove to Austin, TX to pick it up. Camped for a couple days on my return home. Lake Whitney was beautiful.

In just the few months of ownership, it's been a great truck to own and use. Being able to fit 5 adults, or fill up the truck bed with tons of stuff for camping or trips (many so far). I've learned more than I could ever imagine from tacomaworld on doing all my own maintenance.

getting real world gas mileage 15-19 mpg, mostly that lower end with city driving. More info than you asked for, but hopefully useful to prospective buyers of the whole experience.

I just paid $22,300 for a 2011 DC PreRunner TRD with 7,300 miles on it last week. The Dealership was asking $27,000. Four and a half hours later I got the prices I wanted.

April 28th, 2012. Very luck to have found it too, 4x4's don't come around here very often, and when they do, they drive off the lots very quickly.

Now in all reality, don't you think it would have been worth and extra $2500-$3500 to purchase same truck but brand new with 0 miles? Just some fat to chew on.

You don't think I tried that route? LOL

The absolute lowest price on a new 2012 Tacoma DCSB 4x4 SR5 I found was $32,000 before tax and license. The truck was in pristine condition, had 1 owner, no accidents on file, never seen dirt, and still in warranty. And we all know how reliable these things are, even over 100,000 miles. I was and still am very happy with my purchase.

wow...thats crazy. I shopped around a few dealers and purchased a 2012 DCSB O/R 4x4 with $33k sticker. I got it for 29,900. I know the SR5 is about $2k cheaper. Just some thoughts.

being happy with the purchase is all that matters.
