I think the stock tires on our trucks weigh about 35-37 lbs or somewhere around there. E rated BFs aare like nearly 60 lbs so that's a big difference

Interesting...I have Hankook Dynapro M/T's 285/75/16 load range E on my 2005 trd access cab and sometimes of harsh bumps I hear/feel vibrations...the noise didn't start after I lifted my truck...it started when I put the rims and tires on. Idk

Oh yea and the vibration doesn't happen when you compress from a bump its more on the rebound side of the bump...that extra unsprung weight has to make some difference...right?

Now take that 60lbs, subtract it from 37 and multiply the difference x4. Yes folks that's 92lbs. of absolutely unnecessary added rolling weight to your little V6 truck. Then you guys wonder why your MPG are in the dumps.

I know and add in the large tread and it should kill it bad. I gained 1 mpg or more going from 265 bfs to 285 revo 2s I think. I will know for sure when I do a whole tank but these coast with ease

    X2 with this...

    I went from a "E" load 285
    to a "D" load 295...

bigger tires are thicker and heavier.

IMO... thick sidewalls are necessary for moderate^ trail work.

I would destroy a "C" load tire in a minute...
tho' maybe not if it were supported with kevlar.

^ too pricy fo' me tho'

And he made it.....so walking does count as a valid backup plan. If I was going that far out, I'd want some sort of emergency communication as well, but no need to bust his balls over it, his backup plan worked.

So, the reason to run the higher load range tires on a small Toyota truck is for abrasion resistance in rocky off road conditions? I that the P rated tires on mine are rated for more load than the truck itself.

    this

    X2...

    I agree

    most are 2-3 ply now.
that scale of "ply measurement" is pretty much no longer accepted

I have 255/85/16's KM2's E's on steel wheels and 265/70/17's Duratrac C's on OE sport wheels. Never have I noticed this vibration. In fact my E load drive better on dry roads IMHO. My E load set up is 8#'s heavier per tire/wheel then my C' load set up. I do notice a power loss on steep inclines at highway speed, and my average tank mpg is still within the same 15-16 range.

I have 5 tires as most in here do so add another 23#

On the stock dunlops I wheeled damn hard with them. I am surprised that I did not get a puncture, but I also pay attention to the terrain when it gets tight. But I have come D rated now, with actual tread on them. So... No need to wheel em as hard as I did the dunflops
