im pretty sure you will also have to unbolt the cv axle and take off the caliper/rotor which isnt too hard.

Hey so i'm confused at this point. Should i get an ARB or an elite off-road bumper (front bumper). ARB is cheaper and i'm sure has better engineering but has slightly worse clearance? ARB is making more sense at this point.

LOTS of wiring, dual battery setup, Solar charging system, with some random lights spread around here and there.
The Elite's are really nice as are the ARB's. But what are your ultimate plans for the truck? Are you going to turn it into off road only or an expedition vehicle. If it is only off road you can get the elite, if it is an expedition oriented vehicle get the ARB.

By the way when were we going to do your sliders?

I'm getting front and rear Elites sometime in the next month. Most welcome to check them out at the next gathering.

Hey sorry for the delay on the sliders i've been busier than usual with work recently. And i think i'm gonna go with the ARB simply because i can go look at one physically instead of having to trust someone a few hundred miles away that its gonna be nice. Plus ill have it faster.

no the 4 bolts unbolt the LBJ from the spindle. and the tie rod is attached to the LBJ. you will basically leave the LBJ untouched on the LCA

no:( school this semester is shitty. and im living in the dorms this year so i have to drive all the way to rio rat-hole to work on my truck which takes a lot of time that i normally dont have.

how long do you think it will take to install them? keep in mind that i have never worked on my rear suspension before.

ARB's are REALLY UGLY. they dont fit the lines of the truck so i think it looks really awkward. and yes they are not high clearance. Elite bumpers look a lot better and will give you much more clearance (might not be important now but you will be grateful for the clearance later on)

you could also work with cloudy to make you a bumper

when i install my "new" leafs, im obviously going to switch the brake line out for an extended one. my question is do i have to bleed the brakes when i switch them out? im assuming i do but just making sure. if i do, do i have to bleed the front brakes too?

Took me a few hours the first time I took my leafs off. I had a high lift, floor jack and jack stands to take my leafs off. Just took the tire off on one side and lifted the truck with my slider high enough to have the suspension droop and used the floor jack on the axle to lower even more. Make sure you remove the shocks (which you are going to replace anyway). Remove the u-bolts and lower the axle. Remove the bolts that hold the leafs in place and install the "new" ones.

Way easier than the front in my opinion. Check mine or Steve-o's build pages. We have both replaced our springs. I have copies of the Toyota manual's pages that deal with the rear end if you need them. Let me know if you need any tools, too. Depending on when you get a chance to do it I may be available to help.
