I use the relay method on my P4100DVD. I think this was the video I watched as a guide.

Never upgraded my stereo in any of my trucks, well I fell off of that band wagon this week got some of my stuff in today. :D Not sure what a local audio store would cost to hook it up. I know about as much as audio stuff as I do speaking greek lol. Should be a pretty straight forward install? I'm wanting to upgrade the door speakers also but not sure what to get

F&*! ME! I just called a pretty well known stereo place here and they said 3-4 hours install time and $225.00?!! Does it really take that long and for that damn much! I might throwing this stuff in the buy and sale thread that seems like a lot and I don't know shit about hook ups.

Assuming you have everything you need, I can't see it taking more than an hour for an experienced person. Our trucks are pretty simple to change a radio. I don't know about installing the camera though.

The camera is the only thing I could see taking a little bit running the cable for it. The place is the best of best around here from what I've heard and been in business for along time. They did ask if I had the wiring harness which they said was probably not included in the pioneer box. I dunno about that but there is some cables on the back of it already.

The radio comes with it's own wire harness, but you need one to plug into the factory harness. Then they get sliced together. The shop most likley has that in stock.

Dude you should try it yourself. You tube it. Save yourself the money. You would be surprised how easy it is. Its accually kinda of fun. I have installed quite a few stereos and I enjoy it so much I don't charge. Maybe a 12 pack of beer. Lol.

haha I got a feeling it would take a 12 packer or more before I could get it done. I surprised myself when I did my retrofit on my headlights I didn't think I could do it but I did and they turned out great

Got a Pioneer DEH-6400BT in the truck. Was going to install an AVH-P2400BT like I have in my Rav4 but I decided the radio slot was too low on the dash for it to be worth it.

I don't work at a shop anymore, but I usually charge taco-bell, or vodka, plus tips if you feel like it. I'm a cheap whore ;)lol
I don't remember who said it but I totally agree with them and you. Shouldn't take longer then an hour for someone who knows what they are doing. Running the camera and, believe it or not, doing the wire harness always takes me the longest. I did mine in an hour and that included the drive to pick up the parts.

Just got my first Tacoma so I'm new to the TacomaWorld. I replaced the factory stereo with a Sony XAV-63 (decent stereo) and installed a Rockford Fosgate P3S 10" sub for some bass. Replacing the factory speakers will be my next project. Any suggestions on what to go with would be appreciated.

For all y'all with the really nice units and speakers what type of security to y'all have? Someone broke into my truck last night through the sliding rear window and stole my Pioneer unit, only 2 months old, and my ipod. Have a Viper 2 way transponder alarm with remote start installed right now. Next I'll be tinting my windows darker since I hadn't had them tinted since I bought the truck 3 months ago.

Sorry to hear about that, it sounds like this is a growing problem. And stereo equipment is hard to get back. You might want to buy one of these it'll save you some money in the long run.
