Deer hunting BS thread

i'd rather try to find a nice funnel in some thick brushy terrain anyday than out in the open. probably because thats what ive always hunted and am use to. my farthest shot on a deer has been around 150 yards.. most of them are under 75 with a good percentage around 50.

 

Same here. I like the brush. Any pussy can hunt in the wide open. Come thrash through a sidehill with me!

 

i just never seem to see bucks worth any size in the open. theyre always in the thickest nastiest area of the farm where nobody is willing to go but me. i just recently found a sweet spot this past summer and now everybody wants to hunt my stand. too bad i got a lock on it

 

I just scout a bit at the beginning of the season and go where I see sign. The bucks around here don't have a pattern because the area they have to roam is huge. I go where the does are. You'll see a buck eventually if the does are there

 

shit ours is basically the same every single year. always have the same general scrape lines and the rubs are always in the same lil area. some years different stands may be hotter than others but we've had the same stands up for around 10 years.

shit all this talk about huntin is makin me wish i was at the farm so i could go. i def gonna be goin home tomo after work and hittin the woods all weekend

 

I'll be out at camp by dark tomorrow and up early to be in a tree by 630ish

 

I usually always sit in think brush unless I'm huntin in the Mornin and I'm bein lazy haha

 

I don't have much choice. It's thick pretty much everywhere we hunt. We still find new spots to hunt every year so theres always something new to scout out and see if there's any action in the area.

Yeah I hear ya. We've got 1200 acres to hunt and I'm always findin new places to hunt there since I've only been huntin there for 4 seasons. Everything there is real thick. Our place in st George has 2 fields but I hardly ever sit them. I know this place like the back of my hand so I know all the good stuff. I even know when and where deer shit

 

Still muzzy season here. I went this evenin after work. No time for a shower or anything, my bag was at home had some camo in the truck so I took off. Hot off at 530 and was in my stand by 603. The wind was blowin the way I needed it to, into a pine thicket opposite of where the deer usually come from. I heard somethin to my left so I got the gun ad got ready. It stopped, then u heard somethin comin from the pines. Slowly turn around and there's a doe standin there. Te wif picked back up and she took off. I took the shot and missed. Oh well. I'll be back tomorrow after work. Didn't expect to see anything wearin a sweaty work shirt and old spice deodorant...

I gotcha. Last deer season I worked at a deer processor. Good times haha

 

My grandfather use to do it years ago. He was a farmer and had a big bandsaw and commercial grinder already for butchering. Usually do anywhere from 50-100 deer every season. Good little income for Christmas

 

we cut up and grind our own. skinnin a deer and gettin the meat cuts off aint the bad part, the bad part is afterwards when you cut it up to get in the grinder.. i hate that part.

I know the main place everybody takes there deer to there charges between 75-100 a deer depending on what you want.. ill just do it myself
