I line-x'd the lower half of my ranger. Warn your women passengers sliding out not to rub their soft skin on the door sill. It's great in the fields with rough brush. But a royal pain in the rear to clean. It gets really dull. Only way to make it shine is tire shine.

i used rubber undercoating on an s10 blazer i had that had some rust on the rocker panels. i went to the dump, picked up some sheet metal off of an old oven, bent it and welded it on the rockers, then used the undercoating to paint the lower half of the blazer. i wouldnt do it just for the fuck of it, but for a DIY rust-fix it works and looks ok.

Reminds me, I have to get on the sticker thing for the Tacoma. Had a few good ones in my old truck, the Powerman 5000 sticker was my fave..

So it looks like the guy accepted my offer at 350 for the sport wheels, tpms and tires. I think that's a great deal :D. Now I have to think. Should I save my money and paint the wheels myself. Should only be 30 bucks in paint, or should I have them powder coated the right way? hmmmm:confused:

Rattle can is easier to touch up in the future. Since you like to off road and like mud, I'd do them yourself because rocks, sticks and gritty mud will eventually wear through the powder coat. For on road use, powdercoat, no question. For off road use, rattle can. At least that's my $0.02.

If you end up looking into powder coating, let me know. I'm curious as to what it would actually cost to have a set of wheels done.

Thanks for the help. You are right I should just paint them myself. Easier and cheap. I have a place that did my ram wheels for 200 powder coat a gloss black. That was cheap. There is Attleboro ma. Bells powder coating. That was 2 years ago so prices might change but other places wanted 600 so that was a good deal.

Now I have to sand these wheels very good. I've done 4 sets myself and I had to use my sand to sand them and it took forever lol. Any other way to make it eaiser. Maybe getting a drill and putting a wire brush on it to sand it faster. I did that on my Tacoma wheels I have now buy after 10 mins, the brush became dull :(. I want something that's really gonna scuff them up so the paint sticks to them you know?

Thanks for the info on the powder coater. I wouldn't worry about scuffing them up terribly much. It'll take a few minutes but would hit them with something in the 600 - 800 grit range, clean them off really well, use a self etching primer, multiple even coats of paint and finish with about 3 or 4 coats of clear. I might even try to get ahold of some automotive paint when I do mine.

Just so you know, I don't believe the lug nuts for the steel wheels work with the TRD Sport wheels. I could be wrong but I could have sworn I read that somewhere.

I wouldn't go power tools cause the chance of damage is greater things can go bad fast with power tools
