Most recomend the 5100's on the lowest setting when running longer coils. Some say they run them on the middle setting and some will tell you to get rid of the 5100's and buy the OME Nitrochargers. I'm running the 5100's at the lowest setting with 881's no problems. The top plate, bushings, spring cushion nuts and bolts will all be reusable. Double check the condition of the parts that your going to reuse. Mine were rusted and cracked so I bought everything new.

You've hit on an interesting point that stopped me dead in my tracks when I was swapping from 5100s to nitros.

The stock top plate etc. is fine. What may not be fine are the little metal retainers. One retainer fits immediately under the top plate (see "suspension support" in diagram below). This was missing when I took the 5100s apart and tried to install the Nitrochargers, which would not fit snugly against the top plate. There was play that would be a problem. Note that part number circled in red, beacause the dealership did not have them in stock and had to order it from the central warehouse, and it took two days to show up, which meant I had to reassemble the 5100s and then tear it apart again two days later. Not fun. I recommend getting this in advance to be sure you have it on hand.

The OME instructions explicity state that you need it:

This makes sense if you are swapping shocks, going from 5100s to OME Nitros but 96Taco is only swapping coils.

I don't see how this impacts the use of the top plate and associated components if the same shock is used. If the 5100s do not require that retainer to be there, it doesn't seem like simply swapping coils would change that.

Whoops. You're right, Mike, I misread his post and focused on "5100 and OME" and my internal klaxon went off about when I swapped my shocks. My bad, good catch.

Regardless, I hope this helps anyone who is swapping 5100s for OME shocks. :)

I just switched from 880s to 882s, but now that I've added a plate front bumper, am adding full belly pan skids and a winch, I wish I would have gone 883.

That is the exact conclusion I came to after reading the specs on the coil choices. Since I will be running a Shrockworks bumper, winch, and possibly dual batteries, I figured the 883 wouldn't sag like I read about the 882 doing.

Question, i have bilstein heavy duty shocks, the aftermarket ones that i ordered from the auto parts place. i dont think they are 4600 series. Do you guys think that they will work with OME 881's or 882's ok. I want just a inch or so to level the front and just replace the rear leaf pack with stock height OME.

my cvs r great. i have cvjs in it and a diff drop. and yeah i have the lift enhancer plates on top with extended studs. i also have camburg ucas now, i always wonder if the poly bushings allow for more relaxed suspension so maybe more lift? like .25 " lol

26" is a whole lot. On the '01-'04, with the big flares, that would be about 5" of lift. Don't see how your CVs could survive with that much angle. Has to be differing measuring points.

Either that or you have diff drop bracket.
