Remote Starter

Has anyone added a remoter starter to their Taco with a factory remote and if so how did you do it and what system did you used and was it simple enough to do it yourself?

 

I have a viper and it is no good Im on my second remote and its fallen apart I have to leave the battery out and put it in when I wanna start the truck its pretty ghetto.

 

Whats wrong with the remote starter key fob?
I have a viper and the only difference between it and the factory remote is the truck doesnt honk when you lock or unlock, Not a big deal to me.
Have to find someone that makes circuit boards or something to hook up starter with factory key fob im guessing.

Remember you lose your immobilizer when you do this, making the truck easier to steal.

 

Yeah I have a Viper system in my truck and its pretty good. Its a remote start and two way alarm system. The system is pretty good but the second remote (the one way) is pretty crappy. I only use the two way remote anyways so no biggy. Its not the most sensitive of alarms but not too passive either. There are some alarms around here that I set off but driving by them on my CBR600RR with stock exhaust. Thats a little too sensitive for me!

but not many, if any car thiefs round here. Hell ,they can steal it and drive it off a clif if they want. Means I get brand new one again!

The immobilizer is bypassed only briefly when the remote starter receives the signal from the key fob. You use a bypass immobilizer like the TK05 found here:

The other guy is wrong, you don't lose any of your security.

 

If you use that module, yes you loose nothing. But the majority of shops that do the install will just bypass it.
