Just got back from a dealer freebie oil change on 2012, yeah that's about the last one of those I sit through. Will be doing my own from 10k on out. But on to the good news. I told them I was in for my 10k service and that I would also like my seat belt chime turned off. So when they came back to tell me they were done, they regretted to tell me they couldn't turn it off. Something about Federal highway blah blah blah. So I pulled out my trusty owners manual and opened it up topage 586 and pointed out that it is in fact a customizable option where the factory default is set to on and the custom setting was Off. The service manager back pedaled and called the head tech in who said sure that would just have to plug it in. He went out in the lot and was back in 5 minutes and said the initial 4 or 5 chimes will go off but the reminder that trips after you hit 10 mph is NO F'n MORE! I tried several dealers, asking nicely and no dice. Then with that manual from Toyo USA they were quick to change their tune.

    1) Turn the Car 'ON', but do not start the engine (Leave your foot off the brake). Cycle your trip reset knob until it reads ODO. Turn the ignition back off. Wait a couple of seconds.
    2) Make sure seat belt is not fastened
    3) Turn the ignition back on, do not start the car (Leave you foot off the break) As soon as you see everything light up, press and hold the trip reset knob and do a long 12 second count.
    4) Keep your finger on the trip reset knob. Fasten your seat belt, as soon as you fasten your seat belt, you should see the ODO display go from XXXX miles to "b-on". At that time take your finger off the trip reset knob and press it again. It should cycle to "b-off". You should be all set and turn the ignition off and unfasten your seat belt.

I always buckle up whenever it involves other traffic or any sort of speed. But for my job I'm in and out of my truck on private property all day long and half the time my dog is riding shotgun = lots of dinging.
