Alternator help!

    4Runner Trail wheels and Toyo Open Country ATII tires 265-70-17. Cosmetic stuff like Pro grille and OffRoad black bumper trim, vinyl delete on side, added hood graphic, OEM tube steps.

    You might find that the wires themselves are fine and there is a disconnect between the alternator output post and the innerds of the alternator. You might also find that you just have a bad connection between the wires in the connector and the alternator. Figure it out before you start hacking away at your loom. If you are sure it's the wiring in the loom, peel back only as much of the sheathing as is necessary to find the break in the wire and repair, by soldering in a new piece, that wire only.

    Thread bump.

    Im having similar issues with my truck right now. Wont start unless boosted or rolling. When running voltmeter spikes 14-15v. Ive cleaned all battery connections and grounds but havent touched the alternator yet. Alternator seems to be charging the battery though.

    Thoughts?

    With the battery is fully charged, I would load test the battery, check the AC ripple on the alternator, and inspect/replace the starter solenoid contacts and plunger, in that order. They are all codependent on each other.

    i replaced my battery and alternator today. still getting only 12v out of the alternator.
