I've got a 05 tacoma 4x4 v6 auto and I'm trying to change the fluid in the tranny. I've seen a lot of people say that you can only use toyotas WS fluid but i was wondering if i could use AMSOIL ATF and if it was safe to use or if it was gonna tear everything up inside it. Any help or knowledge would be helpful.

you don't pull the pan... you drain from different areas.

Read the thread from the link he posted. Has complete directions.

Torque converter holds like 10, if u flush it, lines, cooler, the whole shebang, yes u will need at least that. Dropping pan doesn't flush whole system. You don't want to just drain pan and add a new fluid when there's lots of Toyota fluid left.

And neither is a full fluid change needed as long as the drain/refill is done regularly.

the v6 transmission does not have a filter. no need to remove the pan. just drain and fill about 4 quarts.

That blows that I just blew 60 bucks on AMSOIL ATF for no damn reason now. Appreciate the info though just saved me from mixing all that together.

Go ahead and buy some more Amsoil fluid and do the complete transmission flush, as detailed by member Mountain Lion.

It's easy - I just did it a couple of weeks ago. Someone else just posted the link in an above post.
