Fog Light Mod 2013

Haha after a few beers its all open game at that point but just in case you were serious you can't solder in a fuse backwards

 

Just did the mod on my 2012. Simple and painless.

 

that's what the was for hahaha

 

I used a weathertight inline fuse holder and solder the ends on with some heat shrink to finish it up.

 

I am on week 1 of this mod I think? I don't know but I have been thoroughly enjoying this mod! Big props to 2006KJ for simplifying this mod so I didn't have to look into the wiring diagram to figure this one out on my own!

I made my own harness using random materials I found within my garage. It surprises me that you guys can't make your own harness!

 

Yea well. I am not too confident at electrical stuff. Like what size fuse or size wire to use.

 

Ahh, I see what you mean, it's all pretty general purpose, and as long as you have a basic understanding to electricity you will know what to do. BTW, If you would like to have one of those harnesses made for you, I can make one for you as well too.

 

I did it on my 2012. Easy as hell and the only problem I ran into was that the male connector was too big to slide into the female seat heater plug (no pun intended). But i just used some tin snips and cut a sliver off the width and was good to go. Works perfect.

Also used the weather proof 10 amp in line fuse...

ive sent most of these jumper wires out as a 'do some one else a favor" for free mod.. but i've since run out of materials... so $5 a piece has been the going rate. Glad to help out the tacoma community... seems to be great people!

 

males connector was too big on every one i've done so far... i just trim them down with some wire cutters

That was the biggest issue I ran into, and me not having the simple things which matter I wasn't able to cut it off or grind off enough material so what ended up happening with the connector was I snipped a sliver off of both sides and it kind of ended up looking like an arrow instead of a U style, it was sharp as a knife so I just dulled both sides on the ground a little so it wouldn't cut me or anyone else at any point

The people here have been absolutely wonderful thus far, very helpful, much better then previous forums I came out of. A lot of jerk offs on those and it doesn't make me miss them one bit, I'll just carry on all my knowledge of vehicles here and give to this community more then I was willing to in the other!

The only you will have to do is trim the male pin to size, you will see what we are referring to when you are installing it.

There is also one right above the relay if I recall correctly which should have terminals. I don't remember which pin was the hot one on key on though.

 

Yeah, I read it... but I was too darn lazy to look until the splice arrived!

If anyone has more info, I'm interested....
