If you go to www.gopro.com, there's a comparison of all three models. The Hero2 compares to the Silver.

I got the remote for my Hero2. I like the idea I can mount it elsewhere and run it with the remote.

The 'black' has some pretty cool features that would make it more desirable for film makers (the Hero has been used in a lot of reality shows for POV). I don't know enough to know whether those features would be useful to most people. For me, the price takes away from the "disposableness"-meaning if I wreck, I'm cool if the camera is toast (which it probably won't be).

Got the iPhone app working with my hero2 today. Wasn't as straight forward as I'd hoped and I'm still left with a niggle and that is the WiFi bacpac thinks it's unregistered but if you try and register it, it says registered. Not sure if that's gonna break anything.

i have never been impressed with the footage i get riding with set @720p 60fr.

when i ride, it is always morning, and going in and out of sun and shadow.
i have never seen the quality that others have. :notsure:

Does the original gopro have the spot metering setting? And have you tried adjusting the exposure, and or gamma?

Yes. It has cnt and spt metering modes. No exposure adjustment tho.

You can use a remote to control the camera and you can also use an iPhone app too. The app gives easier setup options plus a preview of where the camera is pointed.

it has a general setting of "centered" or "weighted".

mine has always been on "weighted"....will have to give "centered" a shot.

    thx

run the weighted setting like you are, but instead of filming in 720p step up slightly to 960p. Without taking up much more room on your SD card you end up with a much better picture which in the long run will result in a clearer upload. I always try to record one resolution above what i will be uploading in if possible.

it is just the MTB vids.

    http://youtu.be/1oGx5oXiMcU?hd=1

the above does not seems to have the quality issues.
of course there is not the in and out of shadow thing going on either.

don't really want to increase the res and force it to create more info for what it can't keep up with now.

WMM should have an option to stabilize the video, try doing that. No promises but it may help. The chest mount and headstraps create alot of small shakes that can distort footage
