I would buy a diesel tacoma tomorrow if I could. Turbo diesel tacoma could be tuned easily, would last forever, and wouldn't get bogged down towing. Plus i could listen to a turbo whistle all day long :D

Im suprised to see the man banned over facts .... my friend runs a tree company ... just replaced all their older diesels with gas trucks .... lower gas mileage by MAYBE 1 - 2 mpg but lower cost of maintenance

Lol facts? Did you read any of his posts? He just called everyone diesel fappers. Besides, I could say the same thing about my buddy, he owns a landscaping business and made the shift from gas to diesel 10 years ago and now 17 of his 21 trucks are diesel...

Has he had to replace injectors and do other things that might not have happened with a gas engine? Yes, but getting 20mpg vs 12 pays for itself quickly.

I've been following this tread and the other one, I don't remember reading anyone suggesting that the gas engines be dropped or limited in any way.

So what I'm having trouble understanding is, why is adding a diesel such a point of contention to those that wouldn't buy a truck with one?

You already have the truck with a gas engine, why begrudge those of us that want what we want?

My thoughts exactly. The great thing about an option is that it is optional... I mean my command of the English language isn't phenomenal, but I can figure that one out...

The reason we don't get diesels is because Toyota would then have a monopoly on the mid-size market.;)

fallacy regardless once you place into the factor diesel maintenance if you are doing mostly city driving. Furthermore when I worked for the tree crew the f450 diesel we had got 8 mpg and had to have CAB OFF WORK done on the engine TWICE ... diesels are not a good investment when you factor in how much more the fuel itsself costs

That (gas engines replaced) has never been the area of contention, guys. Even overseas, both gas and diesel engines are available. That, of course, prompted those interested in diesel engines to ask why it isn't the same here, with others adding comments both for and against. Nobody is begrudging you anything. This is a discussion forum, with discussion. In a discussion, not everyone is going to agree with you. Personally, I appreciate other opinions. Helps me to learn and expand my thinking.

Your opinion is based on past history as mine is. I'll take a Taco Diesel all day long over a gas motor.
