My usual summer wheeling location. Just explored a grown in trail that no one uses. Still listed as an actual truck trail on the 2012 map, so we tried it. Been going there for 22 years and have never been on this trail. Very cool. Pretty cool views. Gave me a different perspective on the area, that's for sure.

Bad picture, but this is at the top of that hillclimb.

So I was just checking out some duratracs on Tires Direct Canada and came stumbled upon this:

    Shipping fees

There is a $12.50 shipping fee per tire to every Canadian province, excluding Newfoundland and Labrador. TireDirect.ca reserves the right modify the shipping fees for remote areas in Canada. In this event, we will contact the client and inform him of the situation. The client will then choose to accept the additional shipping fees, or receive a complete reimbursement of the purchase.

Due to its remoteness from our warehouses, there is a $100 shipping fee per tire for Newfoundland and Labrador and Canadian territories: Yukon, Northwest Territories and Nunavut.
DHL ensures a safe transportation to any location within Canada.

Can you get them shipped to someone in NS or NB or somewhere, and just pick them up?

Cheaper to pay the $100 a tire. Well, really it is cheaper to buy them here locally.

I am about 900km from the ferry. And the ferry(just car and 1 driver) cost about $150 each way with no sleeping accommodation provided.

Ahh, the benefits of living on an island.

I found the samething when tire shopping , the savings can sometimes be a wash with paying a bit more locally

I think both parties are at fault in this one. Quebec has no provincial law stating that paramedics must be bilingual. Maybe this guy only knows basic english, and couldn't communicate the proper medical terms in english well enough. I know that francophones can be rather brusque when trying to explain something in english, especially in the "heat of the moment".

The article makes it sound as if he refused .."with a lot of hostility...". I suppose he really could have not spoken english and was just giving attitude. Still makes him an ass.. particularly in that situation.

What happens when you have to keep repeating yourself to someone who doesn't understand? You try explaining it in as many ways as possible, but they just don't GET IT. I bet you get frustrated. And given enough frustration, you may react in a bit more of a hostile manner. Maybe throw out the odd curse word to try and get your point across that they're dumb.

I know I do, and I bet this paramedic was at the same point. Perhaps he was having a bad day, and just got to the point where he snapped. I'm not a paramedic, but if I was trying to help someone's child out, and I knew what I was doing, I would prefer if the parents just stayed out of the way and let me work. Answer my questions quickly and we will save your child's life. Where's Krazie when I need him? He can probably back me up on this at least somewhat.

    Guys a douche.

Actually in this he's a fucking knob. If I didn't know what to say in the other language I'd be telling them I don't know how to communicate it in the other language properly and apologize. Communication with patients is everything. Specially with dealing with kids, you have to realize that you might have 2 or more pts. The child and the parents freaking out. Either delegate someone to talk with them while you do your thing or you multitask your ass off.
