I'm not trying to stir the pot more, but if I'm on the same page as bob then this is how I would explain it.

The guy slapped the cop. Thats wrong. The cop was right to act with force and subdue the drunk guy. But I was under the impression cops can't punch and beat someone up? There is a difference between punching someone in the face and "eliminating the threat". The cop didn't even try and cuff him afterwards. I would fully support the actions of the cop if he had put the guy in a headlock, thrown him on the ground and held his head to the ground with his knee while cuffing him. But he didn't even attempt that. I understand it was a tense situation and mistakes were made, I'm not saying every LEO has to respond perfectly in every situation. But the line needs to be drawn between arresting someone, and beating the shit out of them cause they pissed you off.

just my .02. I rest my case though

So, again, how do you know that the guy didn't resist up to the point he was rendered unconscious? Personally, I don't see anything that would lead me to believe he beat the shit out of the guy because he pissed him off. At the point the dude quit resisting or was rendered unconscious the LEO backed off and looked quite composed to me. I think you would have a hard time saying that was the actions of a man who was enraged.

Nope, science. But arguing over climate change is almost a daily occurrence. I love a good argument, as long as nobody starts getting seriously pissed over not changing the other persons mind. Very difficult to change someone's mind.
Trust me, I spend lots of time trying to "convince" through evidence the theory of evolution and the fact that summer doesn't happen because the earth is closer to the sun in July. In summer we are actually further from the sun and that blows kids minds
