    Avoid Bushmaster too.

For the money, I would look into a Daniel Defense or go for the Colt.
LMT, BCM, etc. etc. are GTG.

I like Palmetto State. The last 4 ARs I have built were all on PSA lowers. (Including this gem I have attached. It's a PSA lower with all the go fast goodies on it and makes a real good 3 gun rifle.)

What do you WANT from your weapons platform?

If all you're going to do is plink a few hundred rounds a year, it makes no sense to buy a $2k+ Carbine.

At least buy a spare bolt for your bolt carrier. Swapping bolts between barrels can be bad juju on the headspacing.

New rifle on the right. It is an AR with a little FAL mixed in for good measure. LWRCI REPR .308 16" barrel base model.

Bought it last week. Finally getting around to clean it today. My wife saw the debate last week and said I better buy it while I can because she has no faith in either of the presidential candidates respecting my 2A rights. I love that woman.

    Not enough.
    That's how I was thinking...

I mean, my build isn't high dollar like some but eh I'll have fun with it. Looking at uppers from DSArms and read good reviews on them so for my first low budget I'll be looking at them.

    No. Why would it?
DPMS. If all you do is shoot 300 rounds a year at dirt clods then im sure any off the shelf black rifle would be fine...with that being said. Do you like the quality from your toyota? of sp then why get a gun of lower quality? "buy once, cry once" :D
In the end its your money

    :woot:

    nice!

FWIW, 2 of my 4 ARs over the years (both off-the-shelf'ers) have been DPMS and have shot 1500+ rounds/yr without any issue. Obviously YMMV. Still have my Recon as bench/p-dog gun.

    this.

Ive read where people love their DPMS, bushmaster, ect.
Ive also read where lots of people have problem after problem with their DPMS, Bushmaster. ect

Ive got a good friend with a bushy with a carry handle upper. It has never given him any problems at all and Im stoked for him! But with all the negative reviews I wouldnt spend my money on one.

. I use to be one to try and find an alternate or bargain to what I was originally looking for and would usually end up unsatisfied. Over time and through my personall experience I have decided to live with the "buy once, cry once" motto. So far it hasnt let me down.

Depends on if its a permanent part of your barrel. You new to look at it. I have heard that there are some out there that are removable but most are fixed. You may need a new barrel and I am not sure what's involved in that.
There are other guys that are more gunsmith than myself.

This is why you need to get to know your local gun mechanic. Not the guy at the gun shop who's parroting the latest SWAT TACTICAL SPEC OPS magazine, but the guy at the range who tinkers with his own ARs and other black rifles and knows how they really work.

Here's a secret.. they all go down eventually. No matter if it's a Colt, DPMS, LMT, DD, PSA, Oly Arms, Larue, Noveske, whatever.... they all will eventually break something or wear something out, or have something cause a feeding problem, or a popped primer, bad magazine left over from Viet Nam, or something that someone will get on a gun board and yell from the rafters "So and so is garbage because it did "X", but not because I didn't do "Y" or used "Z""

My favorite one was the guy who swore his Palmetto State Armory rifle was garbage because he was using 30 round GI mags with 30 rounds in them inserting on a closed bolt swearing that his out of spec lower wouldn't latch the magazine and it was hard to insert.... etc. etc.
