Its good to replace it, gunk can build up and clog up in your motor which could lead to bad things. I would change it every 30k though, just to be safe.

I would just look at what your owners manual say.

The owners manual says every 100K or 10 years. I don't plan to push mine that long at all. Most people will have more than adequate freeze protection for that period. That's not the issue. The thing that determines the death of the coolant in aluminum engines is the anti corrosion package. Apparently they believe theirs will last this long. I'm not willing to take that bet. The anti corrosion additives are consumed over time. They are sacrificial. Once depleted the coolant will begin attacking the aluminum. This was a real issue when the conversion from cast iron engines to aluminum began. I saw the results. The coolant was not formulated properly for aluminum. Now they have that problem in hand, but I am very suspicious of the life expectancy. My truck has 82K of mostly highway miles over 6 years. I plan to do mine at the first opportunity. Going forward I'm putting it on a 50K schedule. Since there is no way to test the corrosion additives, that is just an attempt to err on the safe side. It's not a magic number. In any case, I sure would not go over the factory recommendation.
