Searched - Are front brake lines needed with 2-2.5" front lift?

See some people bought them, some just suggest buying rears.

If they are needed, why would Toytec for example only sell rear extended lines?

Essentially wondering if I should get in on the current GB for 4 brake lines for 100 bucks or if I can save 30 and just get the toytec rears for 70.

Going on ome 885 front set-up.

 

I'm at 2.25 with stock brake lines in the front and no problems. The reason you see more said about the rear is because there is a greater chance of over extension there. Lifting the front does not effect the lower droop limit unless you replace the UCAs, so obviously the stock lines are long enough no matter. If you replace the UCAs, then you had better look at where the lines sit at full droop.

 

Thanks badger, appreciate the response. I will be replacing my UCA's with Light Racing UCA's. I know they MIGHT not be needed with just 885's and no spacer, but I'm really trying to shoot for doing this right the first time and not having to touch it for a good while.

No you don't need them, but if you upgrade to braided steel lines, you'll notice better breaking performance.

 

I have read that too, some people say they feel something with the new braided lines, but if you put a gun to their head couldn't be too sure. It sounds like the improvement would be negligible and for me wouldn't justify an extra 30 bucks. Ripping a brake line out and losing front braking...would.

I've replaced the brake lines on many vehicles over the years from race bikes to offroad vehicles, and honestly I can't tell a nickel's worth of difference. There is a tiny bit better feel, but in something as crude as truck, forget it. Knowbody could blind pick the truck with the braided lines. I've actually got a set for my truck that I guess I'll install some day. I bought them just in case, but found out I didn't really need them, so there they sit. You are more likely to need them on the rear just for the extra length.
