Debating on moving out to Long Beach, wondering if there is a community of wheelers that do fun shit. I am a graphic designer that likes to drink beer, camp, fish and wheel. Does anybody else?? Looking to get there in around a week.

Well, I will miss Utah and everything it offers. It's time for a new chapter of my life, and I'm debating between LBC and Austin, TX.

In TX, most of the land is owned- so not much wheelin to be had.. Camping is also limited, but there's plenty of fishin.

I havent done too much research into LBC and areas around there, but figure you can camp on the beach in places eh??

Also, cant stop wheelin, got my rig in December, and have had the mod bug in full force

I didn't say everywhere but California is a fairyland, but for the OP coming here from Utah, I would think it would be a little shocking. When I was in Utah in 2003 I was shocked how nice it was there. I have no choice but to make the best with what I have too...that why I work in law enforcement. Can't beat California law enforcement salaries. Did I sound angry because I mentioned traffic a few times as a joke? Or was it because I said we have fucked up gun laws in California compared to Utah being a shall issue state. Proud Utah CCW holder here. Good luck getting the LA County sheriff to issue you your second amendment right to carry.

Depends on where in long beach your moving to. Theres a lot of bad parts of long beach and a lot of good parts. El Dorado estates, belmont shore bixby knolls. Etc. But More west of long beach the more shitty. Even north long beach is shitty. I live in the good part of long beach near lakewood ca which is a ideal place to live. Gas Prices Rent Food Etc are all Up in price. Which sucks ass. I could care less about gun laws bla bla bla. I got a 45 Pistol myself but i dont need a ak 47 or anything. lol

well lets see fishing on the piers are fished out. You could go deep sea fishing that is worth it. As far as off roading goes. For offroading goes, Big bear is 2 hours aleast, Gorman is 2 hours, CLeghorn is 1 1/2hour. So if you choose long beach their not really anything close except holy jim but that it just fire roads.

Thx for the info fellas. I'll be near Alamitos Beach, which is south...and a bit ghetto. Everywhere has shootings, crime and danger.. Just hoping its not too gnarly. I grew up in CO, but went to school in UT- so I'm not mormon, or anything.

It might be a temporary thing, then moving out to Austin after- just gonna crash with my bro for a few months- unless I land a kickass design job.

From what I remember from my visit there, there is mad traffic!

I make longboards, so I'm hoping there'll be a nice market for that on venice and surrounding boardwalk hangouts.

Are there any meetup/ bs threads that you guys visit?

    Check out the 562 thread.

I grew up in Los Alamitos. Worked as a Lifeguard for LB Fire for years before I moved. Parts of Long Beach are great, second street is fun. 7th is not (traffic).

Like people said. 2.5 hours your in the Mountains, 3 hours your in the desert. Long Beach is perfectly located. Plus with the expansion of Long Beach airport its easy to leave if you want to

easy fix there... don't hang out in liquor store parking lots late at night or chat it up with nappy lookin whores on the street corner and you will be fine...

if you are into a relatively normal lifestyle, you should enjoy So Cal living...

it all depends on who you hang out with, etc...

are you moving down here for a job or to find your way into a graphic design job?

as for wheeling, you do have to drive a bit out, but once you get used to the traffic and commutes, it will be easy and well worth the drive to get to the dirt...

Yeah, I'm a pretty normal dude- who doesn't really find himself chillin with sketchballz often. I have some rowdy tendencies along with the homies I choose, but we're not bumz ahaha. My bro just bought a house down there, so what better of a time of my life to go live for 6ish months while figuring out what the hell I'm doing.

I will be applying for design jobs as often as possible, and his yard will allow space for me to make longboards as well.

Good to know that there are places nearby to get my rig dirty! Also looking like quite a few meetup threads  Gonna be out there within 2 wks most likely
