Giants have the momentum but we have more experience winning when it really counts. Matheny had to pitch Carp yesterday who hasn't been stellar, and SF had their best pitcher on the mound. Lohse on the mound gives me a lot of hope.

SF crowd makes it tough as well. Good to see a city as much into their team as STL is of theirs.

The best way to go to a game is to take a ferry from the east bay, the ferry stops right next to the park!

Been to a game  but only one :pout:

I live WAY to far away which sucks. Can't watch the Giants, Niners or Ducks in person.

That was awesome in the rain, it was like a baptism, and the last out was holliday popping out to scoots, in the immortal words of Kruip, "GRAB SOME PINE MEAT!!"

I think the Giants have the upper hand coming into Wednesday, the Tiger's ace is a freak, no doubt, it's gonna be hard to get hits but the Tigers have been relaxing for a little while and the Giants are pumped right now, they're hot, everyone is hitting, we don't have a legit Murderer's Row but with everyone hitting, there are legit threats up and down the line up.
Bochy was smart not to put timmy in tonite, I think he wants to start him maybe Game 3. I say Zito, Volgelsong, Timmy, Cain, back to Zito and Volgelsong. In a weird way, the rotation is upside down but Bruce has the two best pitchers starting the series.

    OR?

    Start Timmy, Volgs, Cain Zito

OR? Zito, Volgs, Maddy, Cain Zito and Volgs, keep timmy for long relief if a starter starts giving up hits. How often do you have a 2-time Cy Young winner hanging out in your bullpen?

And all of you non SF fans got to see how crazy our house is, lemme tell ya, what you heard on TV was nuthin, I have been in that house when it is rockin and the whole fucking place shakes under your feet it's so loud. We LOVE our Giants!
Tigers better be ready, we just crushed last year's WS champs!

IIRC MLB is no longer going to do that, if the Giants had to do that with the Reds, they would be out of the playoffs. I agree, that idea blows big time.

IIRC wasn't there a bad call that cost them the game?

    bad call yes

cost them the game?...we don't know what the outcome would have been from later play in that game.

but bad call....I mean real bad call, no doubt.

That's my point, at least in a best of five or seven, each team can survive a bad call or a bad outing from a pitcher, or bats going cold. The Giants won six do-or-die games in a row, that's pretty much unheard of. We went down 2-1 to the Reds and 3-1 to the Cards and with our backs against the wall, they played out of their minds. We lost our closer early on, we lost our best hitter to suspension, the Dodgers built a superteam with the express purpose of crushing us. The fans never gave up, the park always sells out, the Giants GM calls the guys cockroaches because you can friggin kill em. A single game elimination goes against the spirit of having playoffs, it's about the "we gotta win so we can get em back into our house", it's about having the best game 7 in recent memory. There was more excitement by the end of the third inning than in four regular season games. We would have had none of that in a one game elimination against the Reds, Dusty's guys kicked our butts in the first two games.

og course you must know, the single game was wild card...teams who otherwise would have already been done in September.

I do know that, we could have very easily ended up a wild card
