I'd also be interested in this. My windshield has a crack that goes almost the whole way across. OP do you mind me asking what safelite quoted you?

$239, from what I understand, they make their own glass, and it could be distorted or wavy, If this is true id love to find a local business close to the same price that has OEM glass.

I wonder if it'd be a hit or miss situation with their glass then. Theres a company called all star auto glass down here in escondido that some of the guys at work have used. Not sure about where they get there glass from tho.

Had my windshield replaced just now with OEM pilkington. The company charged me $189. So far I have not noticed any distortions of waves, it has all the same markings as OEM, the top tinted like OEM and had the correct plastic piece for the rearview mirror. I am 100% happy as far as the glass goes, later today I will take it on the freeway to see if there is any wind noise.

Couple shocks, some old tires, and a bad paint job
Call around your local junk yards and have them pull one for you. I've had 3 separate occasions where I had windshields replaced and have found all of them at junkyards for super cheap. When you tell the window installers you provide your own, the install cost drops by about 75%.
