Currently only have 30 max to lose. I think after this beer in the fridge is gone I am done with beer for a while. Maybe cut out wheat for a bit too. That is hard though since it seems every thing uses wheat as filler.

I think retirement age for us is gonna be like trying to pick up a piece of paper in a breeze, every time you get close to it, the breeze picks it up and moves it further away, by the time i get there (42 now), it should be about 80

 Quoted for truth. You need to do the saving yourself and it is hard to do when you are younger.

See Dave's post above. If you can, save the maximum $$ in an IRA or Roth IRA. I believe for you it is $5000 and for your wife as well. If you have a 401K plan contribute the max there as well. This year it is $17K a year. I you have any additional money after that invest in a retirement plan you can live with.

I know it is hard, it was for me, but once you get close to retirement age it will look a lot better. Most financial advisors will tell you to save for your retirement first and your childs education second. As a parent that is really hard to do and have it be the right thing in your mind.

All I need is a cabin somewhere Latin, on a beach and cheap to live, I'm gonna be the Dos Equis Guy, hanging in the cantina, titillating the Latin girls with my war stories and drinking foo-foo drinks with little umbrellas in them. I want to die with my boots at the foot of the bed with the sound of the ocean in my ears. I don't want to live with him when I get old, that's for sure! At that point my Spanish will be perfect with an Jaliscan accent and the won't be any problem that a big bottle of Viagra and a walk on the beach can't fix:)
