Mine is a 2013 and I'm experiencing the vibration too. Going to take it in but not expecting a whole lot (since others have done the same). I didn't notice it earlier because I was babying it for the 1st 1k miles... now I'm giving it more gas in first gear and notice it more like everyone else.

ive had my 2012 in to the dealer twice for the vib's. both times was told it was 'normal'. this is with less then 1600 miles.

i drove another 2012 with 5 miles same model/bed as mine and it vibrated the same.

i now except it as normal and enjoy driving my truck.

when my truck was stock i also had the vibe at takeoff and around 25 mph, then after lifting 6 inches it was of course magnified. last weekend i installed alcan leafs and the vibes are gone except just a tiny bit at take off. im thinking the new leafs corrected the angle of the rear 3rd member. so maybe if your stock just try messing with the angles of the rear and carrier bearing to get rid of the vibes....

I have a 2013 that I purchased 2 weeks ago. I've been using it for work. I travel alot. It's a double cab 4cyl 2wd and I have a similar problem. When I give 1/2 throttle or more from a dead stop I feel a shutter until the engine revs above 3K. Also I have a shutter you can feel through the steering wheel at high speed 65mph or higher on smooth roads. You can see the steering wheel moving back a forth. Shop has looked at it twice. They say the tires are fine and the wheels are balanced. They even claimed to have used a $25K machine that checks balance with tire loaded. I noticed the problem the night after I purchased it and now 1200 miles later and two shop visits the problem stays. The shop says they definitely noticed the symptoms, but have yet to find any problems.

One other thing I forgot to mention is that when I shut the truck off 50 percent of the time I hear a strange whining noise after the engine stops. It's kinda like something rotating at a high speed out of balance. This happens a second or two after the engine completely stops. I'm beginning to wonder if I have a powertrain problem like maybe a bad torque converter.

My 2012 was in a week ago they checked it out and I was told that a Toyota engineer would have to look at it, wait for a call. I received a call a few days later and I was told there was a tsb coming drive the truck until I hear from them. I have family working there and they take care of me so its coming, when I don't know but I will try to get a answer.

I got my truck back yesterday. To help identify the problem a tech drove my truck and noticed the vibrations too. After keeping my truck for part of the day they called me to come get it and then told me that they reproduced the problem on another 2012 so therfore it is normal for the vehicle model.

I can not accept this for an answer, I am very much concerned about negative wear and tear these vibrations could have on other driveline components such as the ring and pinion, or the transmission. So I will go back and keep demanding a solution, if something changes in the Memphis area, I will let you guys know.

You mentioned you have family working at a dealership. . . . . Normally I wouldnt believe anything they say but . . . . You feel pretty confident they aint jerking you around on the TSB? You think its really coming? Just makes me a little excited thinking I may actually get this fixed. LOL

They would have no reason to lie, they took care of me when I purchased the truck that's why I went Toyota, I am a ford man. I will pass any info as I hear Toyota knows there is a problem and I am sure they have be working on it. After all the bad P.R. In the last few years with quality stuck gas pedals etc my hutch is someone's ass is on the line. I really started to hate this truck and wished I listen to my heart and got a f-150 I hope they fix this also.

I am disappointed that some of the 2013s are also vibrating. I am considering trading for a 4X4 and hoped Toyota had this sorted by now. Fingers crossed for a TSB.

My dealer opened a case for me this morning after confirming they feel the vibes but they are not sure how to correct it. They said they would contact me Monday after they talk to Toyota to get further direction.

I can't believe someone would say something this stupid. My Tacoma SPORT is a SPORT's car and I drive the shit out of it. Yes you can pass people that drive like they own 'trucks.' You should listen to yourself. I bet you are trying to get an extra .25 mile per gallon too.

Drive it like you want to and if it doesn't perform, make Toyota fix it.

This thread is getting too big. Somewhere around page 2 or so, I was having issues and the dealer gave up. I called Toyota and told them this was unacceptable - they sent a specialist from Toyota and they ended up replacing my drive shaft. All vibration went away. Apparently, they are not good at balancing drive shafts.

I have since gotten the leaf spring TSB and still no vibs.

Well the dealership called me today and said they did talk to Toyota but they said they where not inclined at this time to tell me anymore than a TSB will be issued (ETA) at my next scheduled service. They also said I should keep driving the truck. I have 3200 miles at this time so I am figuring they should have a TSB by the end of December or January. It sounds like to me that they are aware their is an issue causing the vibration and they are working on a fix. I am upset that they knowingly sold me a faulty truck and it's something they will fix later. I would not have purchased a Tacoma if I had known about this before hand. I did ask for all correspondence work to be emailed to me and I am still waiting on the email.
    I will keep you posted.
