I just don't understand that graphic, it serves no real purpose other than being "cool"

I'll call Crutchfield or JVC soon to see if they can explain it, or better yet show me how to remove it. I read through the whole manual and there's not even a mention of it (eg, "when it's spinning it's telling you it's doing ----" or "when it's flashing it's telling you it's doing -----")

I would love a touch screen too, but fear their durability and craftsmanship... then of course the cost of repair or replacement.

For the money ($119) this unit serves me very well. Plus I don't want my stereo to be a douche (read: thief) magnet.

Eventually I will use that lower din space for switches to run auxiliary lights and other gadgets.

Yeah... 37s is pushing it a bit. Should be fine with a passive wheeling style though. Would not go larger on a 44.... The yota axle should be fine.
Heck yeah, bro!!! :jellydance: x2 on what's the 44 out of? Any plans for the rear suspension?

5100 shocks all around, Trailmaster 2in spacers in front, add a leaf and shackels in rear, 33in Super Swampers,
They got black lug nuts at AutoZone. But they are a twenty pack.

And here's my mileage. Took this pic now.

This is the only reason I am torn on the single vs. dbl really. I just installed lights on the front but used a factory blank location (i.e.. no cutting) that was located under the ash tray. I have additional things I want switches for and the space under the single din is by far the best location.

Turns out smacking the dashboard does indeed bring my gauge lights back from the dead. Thanks for the recommendations

You can mount some switches on the center console cover in front of your shifter. If I ever need more than the blank spots provide I will put one or two there. Or if you don't have an airbag switch you could put one in that blank too.

All great ideas but I'm not a fan of cutting up the factory trim. Guess I'm fearful of screwing it up and then it looking like a hack job forever...or until I can score a new trim/ factory piece.

Yea I am not too aggresive when wheeling but I plan on JCV shafts its out of a '88 Wagoneer and has a TNT customs axle truss
    Axle1_f600248dd4eee0df620e9abea52f51a326c820ea.jpg

For the rear I already have a built Ford 8.8 with a super 88 kit. ARB in both ends with 4.88 gears.
Plan on back halfing the back a 4 link it but that will be a couple years off going to bob the bed for now and DD drive it.

I just got out of a 1.5 hour hot tub soak or else I'd search this thread for ya...

...but Iceman and Meatman put 5 switches in that single din cubby and it looks awesome, on top of being incredibly practical.

anyone know what it costs to replace the dash lights to not have to smack them all the time? Sorry if it was mentioned earlier in the thread, think the last quote from dealer or shop was $200+ maybe, would rather do DIY
