    I got stationed here from Germany about a year ago. I miss being able to snowboard in the alps on weekends. I heard gatlinberg has decent ski and snowboarding. You can also shoot into NC and hit up that area.

    this. ober is OK and the only slope we have. beach, sugar and cataloochee are not far. cat as they cal it is in maggie valley NC, bech and suger are like les than 20 min apart and are about 3 hours from knoxville.

    its not the greatest, but Ober gatlinburg is the best thats close to east TN. theres a bunch in NC, VA, and stuff like that. I've boarded at Sugar Mountain in north carolina, and that was awesome.
