I did that with the one I sold you. Worked out well and wasn't really in the way. Just stuck it in the top on the passenger side and kept it movin....

That's a good radio, but after I saw the Cora 19 wired uo with the disconnect I knew that was the way I wanted to go.

Yeah, I hear up front is best... I would've done what you are talking about too if I had an after market bumper, not yet :(... The guy at Signal Comms said the height of the tip is most important, to get that up above the roof line... I haven't got the radio in yet, I'm waiting to see how it performs.

Actually, you want the COIL above the roofline...if there is no COIL, then as much of the antenna above the roofline as possible...

Interesting... Why would the coil be important for transmit and receive ? I can only go by what I was told, I do understand Radio Freq. some, but home boy was telling me you transmit more from the tip than anything else, somewhat makes sense... I guess it's on the reception side ? I wouldn't think the coil would play as much a part in wavelength reception though as the rest of the antenna though.

Depends on the antenna... firesticks have the coil all the way down, so more coil above tge roofline tge better. Wilsons coil is in the bsse so u want the base on the roof

yeah, it actually is... Should've worded that differently, I meant between mounting locations other than the roof... So in that instance, and thinking about how waves travel, it makes me wonder about the coil importance.... I've been wanting to learn more about this stuff... I always hear differing info

Hitch and wiring, aux back-up light, rear strobe lights, radio and underseat sub.
There is also the ground plane issue. Mount anywhere but the roof, and you need a non-ground plane(NGP) antenna. The roof mount will have the best transmission distance.
