Indeed. The Airland is nice for it's aerodynamics, but I willl say you can't put diddly inside it while closed. Last year I was able to run it with the ladder, a laid out sleeping bag and a pillow and that was about it. I added a 3" honeycomb-style memory foam topper to it this year (on top of factory mattress) and now I can't put a damn thing in it. Bag, pillow and ladder have to go in the truck now. I plan to get a straight 3" thick slab of solid memory foam and just replace the factory matt before next year so I can store the other stuff back inside the case.

I was looking at a medium Airland for my 3rd gen 4Runner but I think the small would work just fine. I just hope it's not too cramped in there with 2 people. How do you like yours so far?

Love it! 2nd season (7 outings) and my only beef has been with the foam mattress being too firm, but that's easily dealt with. So long as you're both 6' or under (so you don't have to go corner to corner) then two fit fine. Let me clarify, so long as you're both short enough and 'friendly' enough then two fit fine. :p I'm just saying that I'm okay sharing it with a woman, but things might get a bit weird with a hunting buddy! If you want to see what it'd be like, I suggest laying out masking tape on the living room floor to the dimensions then you can throw down your bedding and see what you'd be dealing with. IIRC the small mattress is 47" x 71" with about an extra inch on each side to the wall. Also there are several inches of extra space at the head and foot where the support braces (X-style) reside.

Thanks. I think me and the wife will fit just fine. I've heard a few other people say the mattress is firm but like you said that can be easily fixed.

After looking and looking and researching I think I have made up my mind on the trailer type set up. I found a trailer manufacturer Ruger trailers out of Denver. They are reasonably priced and brand new. Steve from Ruger is very helpful and builds a good product. I hope to be purchasing this week.

Went this past weekend to pick up my trailer. It pulls very nice and I almost forgot it was there. Solid platform and box with lockable lid. I will be mounting Thule tracks to mount my RTT this week and start using it this weekend for hunting. I can leave my trailer at camp and take my truck to my blind.

Nice! Looks a little short to take it really offroad. But will be quite nice I'm sure

Are you talking about tmreyes' trailer? Not sure what you mean by looking too short to really take it off road. Nothing wrong with a short trailer, and the box actually looks like it's the "normal" 4x6' size. The axle is obviously pushed back farther than some but that can help to get adequate tongue weight. (the axle on my trailer isn't centered either).

If you're talking about the tongue being short, yeah it looks pretty short. Is it an adjustable tongue? hard to tell in the pic.

The tongue is long, but the water cans and the rack take up most of the room so it looks short in the pics. It has a good tongue weight though. UPS dropped off my Thule tracks so I will install when I wake up tomorrow then mount my tent and be ready for this weekend.

On no the box looks perfect. But I thought I read that the distance from the trailer axle and your rear axle is supposed to match your wheel base?? And track width too..
