Went out on the splitboard up at Mt. Rainier yesterday. Climbed up to 9,000' at which point I was gassed! Knee to waist deep mix of wind buffed/blower pow for the ride down . . . Not bad for 23 OCT.

I posted this in the tits thread but also had to share it here, since its snowboard related :D

About 5 days ago we had our first snowfall in Boise and the mountains got about 5 or 6 inches, so I headed up just to play in the snow and see it for the first time this season and I brought my board and gear and a shovel in hopes there was some jib stuff left up there in the usual spot. This spot is a Forrest service access road on a hill about a mile from the resort, that everyone always sets up pipes and rails and jibs on. I went up there with the intent to play around on my own and didn't expect to see anyone up there on a Friday after noon with only 6" of snow.

But sure as shit I get up there and I see these 2 kids with skis that were just getting there. I ask em if they are setting up some jibs and they say yes, so I ask if I could join them. They of course said yes. So I get the shovel and we get to work setting up some pipes. After a little while I find out that there are more people coming up there. And before I know it there were 16 people up there all doing some pre season riding on 2 pipes and a rail we had set up. After it got dark one of the guys brought a grill and I ended up cooking hot dogs up there in the dark (lit up the area with my off road lights) on this forest service road after doing some pre season riding with this huge group of people of random people I just met that after noon. It has literally been the best way I have ever kicked off a season. Tons of fun!
