The dogs that can actually hurt people are usually big babies. It is unfortunate that in my area if you have a pit bull they wont rent to you. You have to own the property. DC banned them. The only way to get around it is to call it an American Staffordshire terrier, buteven that is risky. I used to have a pitt named java. one of the best dogs ive ever owned. She died from cancer while I was deployed.

The next dog I think I am going to get will be a Malinois

A lot of this is because of the liability a pit bull presents and very often, if you admit to owning a dangerous breed (pit bull, rottie, doberman, GSD), your homeowner's insurance will be sky high or you could even be turned down.

Most of the time, problems are the result of how an owner handles the dog. It's a real shame because there a lot of really good dogs that are f'd up by their owners.

On a side note, some shelters now do reference checks if you want to adopt a "dangerous breed" dog-I kinda think they'd rather euthanize them :(

    Be a great dog!

If I get a Malinois I can get away from the "dangerous breeds" and still have a smart, kick ass companion. I try to get out into the woods as often as I can, so the dog would be great for my wifes and I's liyestlye.

Those dogs man, have you seen some of the vids they got on them?

Tacoma is stock and staying that way, Pickup is TBA as of now.
Yeah, dog owners like that are real douche-nozzles, they typically are responsible for the majority of poorly behaved dogs and give all of the good dog owners bad reps.

Just so you know, Malinois/Dutchies/Belgians are now on several 'banned breed' lists. My friends have a Malinois and a Tervuren (essentially a long-coated Malinois) and finding a rental house was nearly impossible even though both dogs have OB titles. So they bought a house, and then finding home insurance they discovered the options/ companies were just as limited as when they had a pit bull.

My pit bull has a few titles, in OB & Nosework and is a certified therapy dog, and I was still limited to choosing from two insurance companies and paying $$. :( Sucks. I get a good driver discount and so on... but simply because of breed the insurance is the same if I let my dog roam all over the place or if I'm a responsible owner?

I looked into this area, the insurance is not so bad. If i take the dog to a dog school where I can classify her as a working dog (wich i will) The insurance will be nill;)

It sucks that as responsible dog owners; we pay for those who are not. That includes higher license fees, fewer places to (legally) run your dog, insurance and so forth.
