So I finally got stuck in a mud hole. I never cut the engine off and it was in the water for a few hours until pulled out. The battery / alternator light was on for a few hours later and then went off. It was tested with the light on and was low on volts, then tested ok later. Now the truck will just click sometimes when I try to start it. Thoughts?

First things first. Just to be safe, I'd remove the engine cover and coil packs, take out your spark plugs, and try to turn it over like that. Even if you do get it to turn over, you want to make sure there is no water in the combustion chambers otherwise you'll be looking for a new motor soon. Spark plugs out, get it to turn over, and shoot any water out.

Check your starter terminals. Clean them off really well to see if maybe there's a short somewhere in the system.

Try and go to AutoZone or someplace that can do a load test. That will check you battery and alternator.

Drop the starter out, open it up and spray electrical contact cleaner in to flush it out. Should be okay then.

That is one way to keep it cool.

If you kept the engine running I doubt there is any water in the combustion chamber. I would check the oil though for water. Milkly like color in there. As far the electrical I have no idea.

I would replace the front diff fluid as well. A few hours in that nice clean water may have gotten in there.

I would agree with the autozone check. Hope all goes well!!

And it also seems to be worse when parked in my driveway with the rear lower than the front

Did this when the light was on, it said the volts were bad. The light on the dash went off, tested it again and both tested ok

You just learned the hard way that these trucks do not like mud or water. Good luck. You might hear your bearings in idler and tensioner pulleys start squealing too.

You have a lot of electrical connectors in that kick panel, I would definitely take that panel off and start blow drying all them connectors if there's any sign of water intrusion

Front diff breather is up by the firewall? Seems like he's high enough there to where it shouldn't have gotten in it? No?

lead acid battery in there? Sitting at that angle with a load on it for that long may have burnt up a cell in the battery. Get the battery load tested not just tested for volts, you can have 12+/- volts with low cranking amps/bad cell = truck no startie...
