Yeah orange and red seem like power to me. So they made this mirror special for toyota to only accept the single pin tempurature of their fancy v6 ac amplifier?

I still have trouble understanding this, but my plan is to try using my temp sensor on various combinations of wires (obviously testing them first for no 12V incidents!) The temp sensor is just reading the reistance variance and is just a loop.

Also note the connector that the temp wire goes through after the amplifier called IN1 and IN2 pin #3 it says. These are near the drivers side fuse box. I assume the wires run from the amplifier across to the drivers side and up the pillar. Has anyone seen if these are even hooked up for the 4 cyl. I guess this concern is moot if running the wire directly from the amp didnt work, but maybe it has something to do with it.

BlackSeven - thanks again for taking a look. I have acces to TIS until Sunday midnight so let me know if you need anything esle.

Based off of what I see, the wiring is identical, and I know the temp sender is identical...
Now, the A/C Amplifier, I'm working on trying to find the part number for the A/C amplifier to see if their different between model years, AND - if they're interchangeable. It's about a 75 dollar part, but most online toyota parts catalogs don't list the actual part number. If all it takes is swapping out the A/C amplifier to the 2012 model, I'm willing to bet that might work since that's the brain of the system controlling the output to the 2012 mirror.

The IN1 and IN2 pins in my particular installation are completely unused since I created my own wiring from A-14 to I8 at the mirror. All the wiring diagram is saying is that the wire passes through that connection normally, but it doesn't exist in my truck.

Also - Can you post the wiring diagram for the other side of the Thermosistor should be 4[PE] Trying to find out where that other wire runs back to on the 2012 from the Temp sender in the front of the truck.

on my 2012, i tapped the dome light +, dropped the power lead with pin into the harness and homelink works now... only variation is it works with the truck off. this could either be a convenience to some, or a security concern.

in the corner next row down directly under the green wire...

Yeah, I want to use a 12 volt power source that is hot with the ignition on due to the fact I park my truck outside every now and then when I am hooked up to my trailer.

Okay, I have encountered a slight issue on my 2009 SR5 Dbl Cab 4x4 V6 with JBL. It actually looks like the wire coming out of pin 12 on the I8 connector is one of the wires that fed the bluetooth mic that was originally on the mirror. It seems like I will have to run a wire for the temp directly to the mirror.

I can't get the mirror to read the temp. Does anyone know what color the temp wire is on the mirror wiring harness?

I assumed that as well. It didn't seem to work but I will check my connections again.

Nobody can. This is an ongoing issue and lots of people are trying it out. My current theory is that its looking for a digital temp output and our trucks are outputting a 0-5v temp reading.

Once we get the temp to work in 4cyl Tacomas then I will definitely do this.

Okay, maybe I will hold off on selling my overhead console. The wife will be none too pleased since I told her that I could get the money back selling the console and mirror. Maybe I can convince her the new mirror is a big SAFETY improvement due to larger backup cam monitor. Now I can see children that are playing behind my truck more clearly. Yeah, I going with that excuse.

Honestly, I think all vehicles should have a back up camera. It's awesome when I don't have to have my wife stand behind the truck and back me up on a trailer, and very useful in parking lots.

I wish there was a similar solution for my Yukon. As it stands now I throw that bitch in reverse and let jesus take the wheel.

Have to agree as well on the usefulness of the backup camera. With my 2012 mirror with the lines I can now parallel park my truck easier than I could in any of my old cars.

Anyone notice the compass reading on these mirrors has serious LCD bleed at night. Makes me think I'm heading in a direction and it's cloudy too....

Mine does that too but I'm not sure to what degree of bleed yours vs mine is.

Where did you buy yours? From a Toyota dealer or from a Tacomaworld member here? Mine was the latter and I picked it up at a small fraction of the cost that I would have paid from a dealer. Considering that, I would not be surprised if mine was some sort of factory second. Never did ask the seller where he got so many of these mirrors.....

I actually think it's harder to back up with the lines. The lines get in the way when I am hitching up to my trailer.

I sold my console so I hope somebody figures this out. Would a call to Gentex help out? Any ideas.

on my 2010 Tacoma, I hooked everything as outlined. No Temp. Except for today ! It was about 30 degrees this morning. The mirror temp worked ! It read 122 degrees, but it worked!

I'm wondering what anyone thinks about running a wire directly from the Ambient Temp Sensor, to the mirror. I found the sensor, it has a grey and purple wire. I noticed a gray wire in the overhead console on A28, wonder if that's the temp wire? instead of the yellow?

Give it a shot and let us know. Another thought I had was maybe the temp sensor was changed for the 2012 models. I haven't checked this out but it's the only thing I could think of. Maybe I will pull down my console and give the grey wire a try.
