    Is it possible to mount the tire to the underside of that framework? That way you don't obscure the view out the back window. That would make putting the lights up near the cab a complete no-brainer, as there would be nothing to interfere with the throw of light.

    This is correct...I still wanted to be able to use bed but carry full size spare as well...honestly it did start as just a tire mount...but then I started playing :)
