florida...including the Lower Alabama portion (the panhandle),

holds no monopoly on hurricanes...humidity...Hatians (never met one here in 25 years)...horribable drivers (been to Atlanta? NY? DC?)...or dangerious animals...

life is tough, wear a helmet or stay indoors. :D

Same here man. I grew up in Nebraska and don't even own a winter coat here in Colorado. It's rare you'll catch me in much more than a hoodie in the dead of winter. The wife wants to move south and I would live in Alaska if I had my choice. I guess Colorado is a nice compromise.

Yeah, I've been to all of those places you mentioned and Florida easily has the worst drivers. DC and NY has some pretty shitty traffic along with LA but pound for pound FL has the shittiest drivers I done ever seen. Sorry buddy, your state gets the award. I like FL, especially the southern part but those reasons would keep me from moving there. The panhandle? That's not even FL as far as I'm concerned.

    yeah...we'd like it that way.

Florida is the only state where you go north to get to "the south" :D

Don't put it over the axle, put it back against the tailgate. Then it'll be more like 220 on the axle

Also creates more weight away from the pivot point if you get into a slide. Simple physics teaches us that such short cuts don't come w/o downsides.

Amen! Lived in the south for a few years myself, the summers are miserable IMO. Can't wait to return where snow flakes are allowed (Colorado). And let's not forget about the snow bunnies...and they strip when it's hot tub time! WOOHOO!

I've done this in the past and is what I will stick with. Free, available when needed and goes away on its own when you don't need it. What's not to like?

As far as drivers go, I'm also going with Ostrichsak on this one. S. Florida, especially south of Boca in the winter is some of the worst driving I have seen anywhere. People can drive like crap all over the country and each region has their specialty for how they suck, but S. Florida takes the cake.

well with the short bed. if you put it over the axel and up agents the front edge of the bed and have front d rings on the bed bolts i don’t see it going any where if it’s tied down.

Sure I am. Here's the physics: head on collision, nose pitches down, tail pitches up, contents of bed flies through back window (if it's not against the cab), 60lb bag vs 10lb head = ouch. Could be 1 in a million, but hey still worth a thought.

Your truck's front end would have to 'pitch down' to where the hood was level with the ground for your scenario to be possible. No sense getting into a discussion over this because it's beside the point. If you're concerned put your snow forward against the front of the bed. Sheesh... I thought it was just common sense but I guess everything has to be spelled out these days.

Winter has arrived in Workman's area, and its time to get a few sandbags to toss in the bed. Of all the trucks Workman has driven over the last 15 years, the tacoma has got to be one of the "loosest" in the rear on slick roads. It must be the light bed, but when driving around town in 2wd on ICE the tacoma is very quick to peel out, especially in an icy intersection.

Workman is also VERY displeased with the DANGEROUSLY touchy ABS system on his 06 tacoma. Damn ABS has almost caused Workman to get into an accident a couple of times.

Workman's tacoma is excellent in the summer, and can be scary in the winter.
