go to a tractor suply. and get the stall mat. it’s pretty think and even cut to fit the short bet. it’s 80+ pounds. and only like $43 with tax. :D thats what i have, i did not want to spend the money on the oem/one from toyota. it’s almost as thick as the D rings are tall.

Well this is actually pretty much on topic if you are putting weights in the bed of your truck. Apparently this does need to be spelled out. Watch the front dip AND the tail rise...(like when you brake but exaggerated).

It's just a discussion, don't be an internet tough guy. In your reply, please include facts and data rather than sighs and rolling eyes. You may actually have a point, but I just haven't seen it yet.

Like you said, you could just put snow against the cab, but I think having gravel or rock salt bags would definitely help if you got into a real pickle.

Pretty much? Dude wants to know if he should put weight over his axle or not and you want to discuss the physics involved with the trajectory of a 100lb snow ball. Yeah, pretty much.

Internet tough guy? Nice try. I'm not taking the bait.

Make sure any weight you put in the bed is AGAINST THE CAB. If you put it behind the axle, you're asking for your rear end to slide out in a turn. That's added weight to carry your rear outward.

if you what to talk about real world... or physics get a tacoma video at least not an F-150! http://youtu.be/PgOJZmvYu7A

edit: also by adding weight to the bed, it’s going to help keep the rear end DOWN and not let it come up as much.

lol. the paint did. but i think they use wet paint. like it stays kinda wet. and it helps with how bad and where it hits on the air bag.

Naw...that's just paint. They want to see where the face hits the air bag.

I always throw in a few sand bags when it gets icy out. They've saved my ass a couple times.

Honestly, when I had to drive home from FL to Pa in the winter I would just buy 3 25lb bags of cat litter for cheap and throw them in the back.....worked great!

Good question, are you being sarcastic though? Workman has a leer shell on his truck, so piling snow back there is not an option. Even if he didn't have a shell, piling snow back there isn't a good idea. It can melt/freeze over time and become a solid brick of ice after awhile, rendering the bed useless. In other trucks Workman has owned without camper shells, after a big dump its best to get the snow out of the bed....if you get lazy about it you will find yourself out there when its -10F with a hammer and a screwdriver breaking ice.

I carry HD tire chains, chainsaw, shovel, and recovery gear in my crossover tool box for winter, if I carry anything for weight. Plus over 1/4 tank of gas. Empty DCSBs naturally put more weight over the rear axle than any of the other tacos though.

Workman, did you see the ABS disable thread that I posted in? I think Workman would like an ABS disable switch as much as Landphil does.

I've always thrown one or two 50lb bags of rock salt in the back of all my truck beds along with some sand. If you happen to get stuck the salt might be more useful than the sand.
