I drove an 05' Tacoma trd 4x4 manual today with 130k on it. Asking price is 14,900 but im asking 13,500. It drove like a dream!!! I love it but my fam is trying to talk me out of it.. Im a pool man and drive a lot (about 40k/yr). Am I gonna blow it up before I pay it off in 4 yrs??

    Here's the Craigslist post:

how much life will be left when you're done paying it off? 130+40+40+40+40 =290,000. Guys on here have logged that kinda mileage but who knows.

Either you start with lower miles on something newer or you be prepared to pay for some stuff that won't last 4 yrs until you pay it off on something that is mid-life or buy something for cash and be prepared to start filling it's needs immediately. Money spent on a Toyota is better spent than on most of whatever else is out there. That truck is around mid-life if taken care of and is not far above half of what a new one would be. Decision is all yours...........

i gave 13k for my 05 DC TRD OR prerunner almost 2 years ago. (bought it from an individual and the tires were slick, something to consider in your offer that could be an $800 or difference) it had 142k on it and i've got 166k on it now and all i've had to do is change the oil, i did a transmission fluid change and filter clean, and i had to replace the rear u-joint. If it's maintenance has been up kept i see no reason not to go for it. I wanted a 4x4 and a 6 spd but i couldn't pass up somethin close enough for me at almost 4k below value.

Depends on maintenance. I bought my 2000 runner with 159k on it and I have 170k on it now and plan on super charging it.

This is a tough one. The truck looks great but I know it's tough to consider paying $13-14K for a truck with 130K miles. It sounds like a lot of $, and it is, but $13,500 would probably be a decent deal.

Are you planning to keep the cap on it? If not, you could sell it for at least $750 so you could deduct that off the actual price you're paying (in your mind). Good luck!

I bought my 06 with 130 for a couple k more than that, no regrets, truck drives like it's brand new, and I have no doubt I'll be driving it for years after I've paid it off. The only struggle is getting a decent interest rate with higher mileage.

I would consider it if you have some idea about service or problems. Run the serial number through the Toyota Owners website: http://www.toyota.com/owners/web/pages/home
It should tell you the services and warranty work performed by Toyota on the vehicle. I'd also run either Carfax or one of the vehicle history services to see if it's be wrecked, flooded, ect. Keep in mind Carfax and the others often miss important information. Have a mechanic check the truck and if all checks out I wouldn't let the mileage alone keep me from purchasing the Taco.

Very nice looking truck. I'd say the price is a bit high, but it also has the cap and backup cam. Two nice features.

I got rid of my '05 (also a 6spd manual) when it had about 80k on it. I noticed that clutch started to develop a very minor slip. I don't know much about transmissions to comment on the cause of it, but I knew that it didn't feel quite right.

Has this truck had any transmission or clutch work done? Food for thought.

    PS - Love the white.

I think that 9K is a good offer. At least it gives you more room to negotiate.

Not much reason for a 4x4 in San Diego unless there are other details you did not mention. It's certainly not needed just to be a pool man. I say don't buy it.

I would offer them around 11k and you could probably end up around 12.5 . Theoretically .

Tacoma is stock and staying that way, Pickup is TBA as of now.
I don't see why not, a member here recently turned over 300k on his 06, same truck pretty much, had the 6 speed on the original clutch as well. 130k in this day and age, especially on a Toyota is just getting started. Back in the 70s it woulda been a different story.
