I bought mine when I bought the truck.. Never regretted it but you do need to realize it doesn't turn it into a 10 second truck. The new ford Eco-Boost will run with you. Also the traction control will still limit the power you put out.

I am dying to get some cash together so I can install a limited slip or locker to allow both tires to spin with all the traction control off.

^^^ oh I realize that. My dad has a new ecoboost and if my truck had that much power I would be happy as a clam... enough to drive down the interstate and not have to row through gears is all I ask for

Yes! Do it right now. I've started a savings account for my own s/c, something tells me ill be pulling the trigger before my account is ready. Damn this forum, all it does is convince me that spending all of my money is awesome. Bottom line is that you only live once so do it.

    Hey,
First post here? Been reading for six months. Where can you buy the SC kit for the 2012 six? Also do you need a cold air set up or just the filter change for the 2012? How about the exhaust?
    Thanks,
    Larry

    Here's one place http://www.trdparts4u.com/scripts/p...=2&catalogname=TRD Performance&idCategory=-90

You can score them a bit cheaper if you search around or go thru eBay.

No cold air setup is needed...in fact toyota says NOT to use their intake with the S/C. You definitely can as most people do, but Toyota may throw a fit if you come in for service with it with the S/C. As for exhaust I was looking for this answer too.

I'd like to get one for my '13, at some point, but it will likely be a few years. It's certainly not a "need", as far as I'm concerned. And, after a brief "pedal to the metal" moment yesterday, I can say the stock 4.0L has plenty of get-up-and-go available from it. I can't help but wonder how much life will be taken from the truck's engine by having the S/C attached...

If you maintain it well, likely very little unless of course you are romping on it all of the time.

the supercharger itself wont do any damage to the engine unless you take to drag racing and push the limits of the vehicle it will eventually fail.

that being said your first major concern should be the transmission auto or manual it will be the first to fail assuming the rest is properly installed and maintained.

start adding on exhaust, 7th injectors, engine management, smaller and light pullies, ect. then you may want to become a little more concerned

Well I'm going that route hopefully my transmission doesn't rip apart ! (minus 7 injector) lol

OP, you won't regret the extra power outta that supercharger!

The auto trans is pretty dang tough in the tacomas I wouldn't be worried about it failing. And even if it did the Trd supercharger doesn't void the warrenty if you go through Toyota, which may cost a lot more.
