Pro Comp 7105 Wheels & Discount Tire

Long story short, 2 weeks ago I ordered a set of Pro Comp 7105 for my 2012 DB SB 4x4 Sport. Called today to check on them and they got mixed up and didn't order. So I asked them to place the order asap. Manager calls back and asks if my truck is lifted (it is not) because Pro Comp only recommends this wheel on a lifted truck? Is this correct and any reason why this would only work on a lifted truck? I was planning on putting 265/70 R17 GY Duratracs on it. Any help or thoughts would be appreciated. Hoping to get these installed in a couple of weeks and don't want any more hiccups if I can avoid. Thanks.

Update, wheels have still not come in even after they said they had and scheduled me an appointment. Not happy after driving 45 minutes to find they were not there. Here's my concern, I was looking at the order and I looks like they ordered the 7105's in a 17x9". The website show it as a 4.75 BS with 6mm offset. Shouldn't it be a 17x8" in a 4.5 BS and 0mm offset? Getting frustrated.

 

I think they make both sizes...I'd check with them to make sure they didn't order the wrong ones. The 17x9 will stick out another inch to an inch or so. May rub...

Morons, really? Those "morons" are correct, the OP will not fit 265/70/17 Duratracs at stock height on a 17x9 -6 wheel without rubbing.

OP, you MAY be able to run the 17x8 0 offset without rubbing, but that's a big maybe, you might have to remove the mud flaps. If you run the 17x9 -6 offset wheel, you will definitely rub and will have to remove the mud flaps at the very least.

PS, the 17x9 -6 will stick out .75" more than the 17x8 +0.

 

Those look great. Are they Pro Comps? and do you have an side pics? Did you use with mud flaps? I have a set of Husky's on mine and would prefer not to remove. I did call Pro Comp and they confirmed ordering the 17x8" wheels. Called Discount back and asked them to change and reorder. They said they would give me a good discount for all the hassel. We will see how that goes.

 

Thanks for the feedback. I'm really hoping the 17x8" wheels fit with the Duratracs & mudflaps. If not, I guess I'm on to pick a different tire. May end up back with Revos.

 

At stock ride height you get to pick one or the other of:

8" wide, 4.5" offset wheel (more negative offset than stock)

OR

1" oversize diameter (265/75R16 or 265/70R17)

You don't get to put both together without trimming/lifting/rubbing or some combination thereof.

 

So am I screwed with combination? I don't want a bunch of rubbing or chopping. I could live with minor rubbing at full lock.

 

Rubbing is inevitable with that combination....

 

Everyone's definition of "a bunch" and "minor" differs. And once you get down to fractions of an inch, individual trucks actually vary based on factory build and especially alignment settings.

So at this point you know as much as we do. It'll be your decision if you want to try it out (can return the tires or wheels if they don't fit?) or play it safe.

 

Appreciate that. They will test fit the Duratracs on the wheels first, but I'm just trying to come up with a game plan in case the rubbing is too much. If I keep the wheels do you think I could get away with a different tire in a 255 70 R17? I'm just trying to get the biggest tire I can get on these wheels without having to remove the mudflap's if possible. Thanks again for the advice.

 

Now you killed it lol. Duratracs are pretty aggressive and will rub even more than the same size tire in a different brand. This keeps getting better and better.

 

Not sure why this keeps getting better and better? But encouraged that another brand in that size may not rub as much as the Duratrac. Because of their ordering screw ups, I'm just trying to know what I want, and what will fit when these show up next week. I travel for business and need to get this done in the next 2 weeks and can't afford to wait another month. Appreciate everyone's help.

 

If you can't afford the time needed to keep trying, just go back to 265/65R17 if (when?) these don't fit.

They will still look bigger because of the smaller backspacing causing them to present a wider "stance."
