    VENT VENT VENT away fellas!
This is for those days at work that gave you additional grey hairs!

    VENT ON

For me...about a week ago, I got moved to another piece of machinery. This new machine (to me) is often referred to as *HELL* (Bastard Child) because it runs like shit. I've made a lot of progress in a week, however...the other people I work with (on the same machine) are starting to piss me off.

I come in this morning, the machine is running like shit. Problems everywhere. The 3rd shift guy set the job up and he just doesn't take the time to do things RIGHT. I end up doing everything all over again. Product from the last job are still on the machine. Product isn't flagged properly. Some quality issues were overlooked that I needed to take care of. The day ain't over yet - one step at a time.

I might be anal about a lot of things...or tooting my own horn, but I came off a similar machine that was the best of all 4 of them. I worked on that machine for years and it was maintained, fixed, repaired, no quality issues, and it ran above budget.

Some people just don't give a shit....and its frustrating!!!

Nobody has messed up days at work??

    VENT ON

I work around robotics. The robotics have lots of settings and data. Some of that data should never be changed, while other things do. When you change settings, it affects things in different ways and you can't always pinpoint what or why.

I'll never claim to know what I'm doing or be right or wrong. But....the other Operator on my machine keeps changing settings manually that you really shouldn't be changing!!! He has a totally different 'thought' of what those settings do. So - to humor myself....I'll go and ask the most senior experienced Operator about these settings to find out who's got the better idea of how the settings work.

Sure enough, the Senior Operator explains to me what the settings are and how to set them (which involves the robot to perform a task and it'll put its own settings in based on the mechanics). Exactly what I thought they were.

But every frigin day I come in, I have problems with the robot and discover those settings have been manually changed AGAIN!!!! WTF??

So this time, I send an e-mail to one of our inkjet/computer techs. Let's see if he has a different information. I'm tired of getting into battles with these guys. The reputation of this Operator explains it all (know-it-all). And come May 15th, the 3rd Operator comes back and he's just as bad!!

    HELP!!!

I was the most experienced member of my landscaping crew and on one day the boss didn't put diesel in the truck so I spent a halfhour wandering around a part of the city looking for gas that I was completely unfamiliar with. Apparently our late start that day was because of me. The next day I had to leave early for my other job to which I get off at 0130 and at home a 0200hrs. 17hr day in total of just working nothing else. Next day I slept in cause I needed it and get in shit for it even though I told him my other job keeps me there late.
That was Saturday. He said we'd be working either Saturday or Sunday so when I worked Saturday, naturally I presumed I'd have Sunday off. Sunday morning rolls around and I get an angry phone call asking where I am. WTF?
Monday I have to take my Truck in to get the Tranny looked at and take my GF to the Doctors office, something I told him on Friday. This is fine. Tuesday I text him to say I'll be taking Wednesday off to write my Calgary EMS Aptitude test and the next morning I'm fired for not communicating properly.

Anyways, more time to study for my other upcoming testing.

Too bad you can't get your own machine... been there done that, sort of. Some of our aircraft repairs were multiple shift operations and the other shift always did the stuff you told them not to do... GGRRRRRR I feel your pain.

Hope you get it worked out (with no blood (theirs) shed :D)

    Not so frustrating as it is ...a L O N G day.

    I'm a Grade Level 15.

Today, they're paying me time & half for 12 hours doing an entry level job - which is a Grade level 2.

Standing on concrete floor in one spot all day ....but I love the lack of responsibility.

They actually come to work drunk? And they allow them to do that?

Is there anyone you can trust to 'report' them?

Damn, here...they can give you a piss test anytime without reason. If you're drunk or have drugs in your system..they fire you on the spot.

Vent away, Janster. Me personally, I work for a federal insurance contractor so it's an office job. I can't really complain too much though I generally do hate my job. I just don't let it get to me. It's a means to an end, it pays my bills, and I actually work with military folks every day so I figure the least I can do is help them out the best I can (I was once one myself). When the economy recovers (in another 4 years), I'll make a move then and hopefully do something on my own because you generally don't get rich working for others.

^LOL! Hang in there, things will improve and you'll be back to hating what you do in no time. My sister is in the same boat, laid off 3 months ago, goes to interviews almost daily, NOTHING. It's frustrating, to say the least.
