I don't think this storm was over-hyped at all. I'm sure the Coastie guys, especially up in AK see much nastier storms but because they are hitting regions that are sparsely populated it does not garner as much media attention, much less on a national level. Hell, the USCG does their heavy weather training off the coast of Oregon for folks that are going to work on the Bering Sea. I've seen 20-ton tree trunks that are sitting 20 feet high on jettys that were put there by the waves in Florence. That this storm hit such a densely populated area meant the are many more chances of people getting hurt or killed and the damage is going to be much worse. I understand what John was trying to say, I think one needs to understand the context in which he was saying it.

That is one heck of a flash! I had one of my friends on facebook say that they were humored that the NE finds a cat 1 hurricane a major event...I was like you are a selfish weather-illiterate idiot. Lol

It's all relative. South gets a wee bit of snow and it's a disaster. North east gets a wee little hurricane and it's a disaster. LA gets a lil rain and it's a disaster...

yep. sucks what happened to all in the NE!! but this make a me laugh a little. FL gets a cat 1 or 2 and it’s just another day in FL.

BGR lost everything he owns it sounds like, think the "wee bit of a hurricane" was a disaster for him?
