Brian, I heard that the winds up high were close to 90mph, that it did that kind of damage at street level is scary

Thanks for the concern guys. Everyone seems to be doing well, just no power. Here are some pics from my town (Huntington) taken by my brother. These were around 230PM. Sandy didn't really hit until about 630-7pm

My buddies parents house. They live on the water. Thats about 4 ft on the fence[IMG]

    our beach
    [IMG]

There is about another 60 ft of beach on the other side of that pavillion before you get to the high tide line. I'm told it was even higher last night. there are homes all along the shoreline there

damage on long island seems pretty bad. our neighbors have a lot more damage than us. my dad told me our boat, which was pulled out of the water and sitting in our driveway, ended up going down the street so he had to pull it back... seems like the streets are filled with boats

This storm is so strange. I feel like they got the predictions right for the coastal areas but they became exponentially overblown as they went inland. For my area they were saying it would be a Cat 1 as it passed directly over me. But it ended up being nowhere near as bad as Irene. But then people up north on the fringe of it along the coast got slammed. Very strange. Hope everyone is doing alright and we hear from that DB Scott soon.

Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
Same here. They predicted we'd be out of power for 3-4 days. I guess I can be happy they were wrong. Should be able to pick up a generator cheap soon.

FPL (Florida power and light) sent a good part of their fleet from this area straight up i-95 earlier in the week in oreparation for this, so hopefully those of you with the lights out are back up and running sooner than later.

yeah Chris, they said to add 20mph to winds above 30 stories. The buildings create artificial canyons, so you'd be walking and be fine, come to an intersection and literally get blown back a foot or two.

Last one because it is nice, haha. A little peace on Long Island after the storm (about 30 minutes ago) Stamford, CT is just to the left of the rainbow

How does one even stand there to take that picture, I woulda pooped myself and left long ago. I can't imagine that glass is build to be able to hold that amount of water.

Yeah that's a lot of pressure. I'd be a little worried too

    I don't like water though
If you look closely at the frame on the bottom edge it does appear to be bowed in slightly

Bingo. Those two foot tall plastic slushie cups you get at the the amusement park have the same horizontal fluid pressure.
