Mine only had 14000 on them and were nearly bald, the first time I test drove it before I bought it I chirped the tires pulling out three different times. Luckily my old 1st gens tires fit the new rims and I was able to switch the tires before I drove it home.

    back to bone stock.
my BIL has them on his 2011..he is at 40k miles with no issues. he has survived denver snow storms..he doesnt love them, but he is also NOT on here on TW where he can get tainted :D

i bet he needs new tires soon. Denver is not bald tire friendly in the winter.

Tacoma is stock and staying that way, Pickup is TBA as of now.
Very, me and a buddy were headed home from riding dirt bikes in the mountains once and a tiny little pebble got lodged in between the treads of the right rear tire just right and punctured through. The tire indicator light came on, but we managed to limp back in town and get the bikes unloaded, 30 mins later it was flat.

I agree with you on this point. They aren't the greatest tires in the world. They are however acceptable tires for what they were designed to do.

I guess they aren't designed to keep the truck between the ditches if you live where it snows in winter

That would be the drivers job, not the tires. They are not snow tires, they are multi-use tires.

If you have that much snow you should be running a dedicated snow tire and not a multi-use tire.

Most of you are missing the point. The OEM Dunlop Tires are all weather tires intended for street use. They are not off road tires, they are not snow tires and they are not rain tires. As a multi-use tire they will not be excellent in any of these conditions, but will serve the purpose in all conditions to a moderate degree. That is what they are designed to do.

If you want to go mudding, snow plowing, etc you are better off getting a tire designed for that purpose.

There are trade off's with everything. A tire made for mud / snow will be unpleasant for highway driving due to the aggressive tread that will make more noise at highway speeds.

A tire with a very high wear rating will usually give a harder ride due to the hardness of the rubber compound used.

A tire rated for better traction will wear faster due to the softer rubber compound used...

Most people that buy a truck do not want or need huge off road tires for their daily drive. That is why Toyota chooses to sell the truck with a middle of the spectrum tire as that will suit most people just fine.

For those that are too ignorant to understand that then maybe you have an issue not Toyota. Hmmm.

actually I dont think you can justify keeping them sir!

you have a better chance to resell em locally with only 2k miles on em. worse case scenario, you keep em for spares or use em as a chair or planters or something.

    That's perfect!

I have to admit, my dunlops aren't terrible but I hate them. I just hit 5000 today and thy are wearing pretty fast. I can't justify taking them off til they're shot so I'm driving the shit out of my truck. Might as well enjoy burning through them, right?

They're ugly, make my truck look wimpy but not terrible. With that said, can't wait til they're totally shot.

    No , I don't

I get your point , however I'm not suggesting they should run like a dedicated snow or mud tire , or as you suggested a rain tire ( didn't know they made those for regular passenger vehicles )

The shallow tread depth of the Dunlops doesn't lend themselves to even occasional snow driving or mixed slush / snow driving , the tread blocks clog and do not clear , so they really aren't any good for the general all weather conditions here
